Despite pledges from the White House that no American ground troops will be sent to fight the Islamic State (ISIS), Gen. Michael Hayden, former head of the CIA and NSA, thinks that up to 5,000 Americans will be on the ground by the end of the year.

"It might be through covert action rather than more overt activity," Hayden said on "Fox News Sunday."

Hayden said those won't be regular combat troops, but intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, logistics, advice, command and control assistance and tactical air control parties. He said that even if America is successful, it can expect a three- to five-year battle.

And LBJ thought it was a brilliant idea to announce the Navy’s first Post Golf of Tonkin fiasco air strikes against Hanoi. While our aircraft were still en route!

Which resulted in the very first American POW of the Vietnam War. Lt. Everett Alvarez, Jr. USN.

Personally, I don’t believe we have 5,000 operators. Covert or otherwise, who could pass for locals. Let alone gain information and intelligence on a long or short term basis.

I agree. This administration is giving out way to much information regarding our troops on the ground.

Obama has Muslim Brotherhood people all around him. They will pass along critical plans to ISIS.

The MSM will NOT cover any of the clandestine deployments, that his how bh0 will keep it quiet.

... until Valerie Jarret gives him permission to reveal it.

Many of these people are western trained; many are citizens in the west. China and Russia don't want to destroy us completely because they have trade deals with us. ISIS has no qualm at all. (N. Korea doesn't have the IT experts and they're pretty much clueless about social media).

When you have a die hard ISIS member trained in Boston, familiar with social media and American culture who is now at a high level of leadership in ISIS you have a problem which border control won't eliminate.

You needed an army to take bin laden out too. Unfortunately these forces have grown because Obama didn’t catch the problem in its early stages.
