Yeah. She’s a babe. But she’s kinda got an annoying voice.

Hey, thanks. BTW, Audible is giving me some grief about the audio quality on EFAD, an “unusual whistling noise” in the background. Apparently, they have gotten complaints. I have communicated to them that the original files were clean and whistle-free, and have tossed back to them the idea that perhaps their own compression-decompression or similar has added the whistling sound since we uploaded our files a few years ago. Any ideas? Did you hear the whistling sound on EFAD?

I dunno. Seems staged. Why would the perp wait until the doors OPENED? And a small child like that simply doesn't have the strength to toss some larger opponent around like she did. Not believing this.

The three books sounded fine to me. That guy reading them did an outstanding job, too. He sounds like a cross between R. G. Armstrong and Charles Napier.

I don’t understand how Audible can complain about that when their long version of Atlas Shrugged sounds like it was recorded in the back of an airborne turboprop cursed with a backfiring engine during the 1950s.

You did a mighty fine job with these books, shipmate. The ending made me say out loud, “YES!!!!” when I was at work. Glad nobody was around to hear me. I actually had to stop working when they took control of the ex-president and were about to watch the broadcast.

Shot placement works quite well with fists, too.
He might have waited for the doors opening to catch her off guard, and to see if he would be free and clear of witnesses in order to drag her out and do whatever evil he planned.

Hope you’ve been doing well, Laz!

Glad to hear you didn’t notice any “unusual whistling” on EFAD! I’ll mention that Atlas Shrugged in my future emails to ACX about my case.

I am probably not as optimistic as the ending of Foreign Enemies And Traitors might suggest. I just couldn’t end the trilogy on a down beat.

Have you heard the audio recording of Alas, Brave New Babylon? It’s on this page of my website.

I’ll have to check that one out after I finish D’souza’s America.
I’m still writing the iTunes review for your books. Would you like to mention the alleged audio issues, and how the sound quality was great on my end? I promise that I’ll be diplomatic about it.

Gabby, that’s a great idea, take away the one thing that has any chance of leveling the playing field for women and the elderly.

Here’s the review that I’m about to sent to iTunes:

This was quite the journey.
I read John Ross’s, “Unintended Consequences,” back in 1999 and enjoyed this kind of genre very much. When I’d heard about The Bracken Trilogy from friends, I wanted to give the audiobooks a try.
I was not disappointed.
The first book follows the idea of a sinister government official and his cohorts wanting to make a name for himself by causing a tragedy at a stadium. Lives were destroyed, and new laws were passed because of it by bureaucrats demanding that more gun control would prevent further violence and death. Lawful gun dealers are targeted by vigilantes, and even more innocents are killed. Trapped within this chaos is Brad Fallon and Ranya Bardiwell, two people just wanting to get on with their lives.
The second book follows Bardiwell’s path through an American nightmare where the laws are backward, right is wrong, and governmental forces condone it all. The terror that was inflicted upon her from the first book made this woman hard and strategic when dealing with all of the obstacles she faces.
The third book goes back to a protagonist from the first book, Phil Carson, who’s been away from the America that he once knew and loved since the climax of the first book. Carson returns to a country in worse shape than he could have imagined, and must use his cunning and Special Forces training to adapt and overcome the many hazards he now faces.
These three books offer some of the most horrible American dystopian visions I could think of. Going through chapter by chapter, I was left asking myself, “Could thing get better for these protagonists?” And, they get even worse. Hopeless situations, terrifying visions and plot twists kept me glued to every word spoken. Unlike Ross’s, “Unintended Consequences,” the protagonists weren’t complete tactically aware geniuses, and the antagonists weren’t simply misguided authoritarian folks just trying to do their jobs. There is panic and pure evil in all of the characters in there, making the relationships and connectivity more engrossing. There is a very real sense of foreboding menace that keeps readers honed in to the plot.
The audio was clear, and the reader (Mike Kemp) did a great job. Someone needs to tell him that he sounds like a cross between R. G. Armstrong and Charles Napier. It sounds like a campfire tale told by someone’s rugged and wise Grandfather.
These three books are a must read. Well written and emotionally engaging in many ways. I hope this author continues to create these works of excellence.

My wife is a strong believer in gun control. That is why she has a concealed carry permit and carries. She believes that her gun will help control anyone who tries to commit violence against her.
