REDIPUGLIA Italy (Reuters) - Pope Francis said on Saturday the spate of conflicts around the globe today were effectively a "piecemeal" Third World War, condemning the arms trade and "plotters of terrorism" sowing death and destruction.

What Obama sees as a law enforcement issue, the Pope honestly recognizes as war. Indeed, this is a world wide war and one that is religious, political and cultural. And it began with the seizure of the American Embassy in Tehran!

Rather, piecemeal WW 4, since WW 3, the real one was the famous “cold war.”

As a veteran of that cold world war, Thank you for being one of the few who realize that it was just that, a World War.

I would agree that there are wars going on across the globe, but I wouldn’t technically call it a “World War” in the traditional sense. When we start seeing allies forming who then fight against each other, then I’ll consider it a full fledged World War.

“War is irrational; its only plan is to bring destruction: it seeks to grow by destroying,” he said. “Greed, intolerance, the lust for power. These motives underlie the decision to go to war and they are too often justified by an ideology ...,” he said.

War has solved a number of problems. It is entirely rational in self-defense. Indeed, war is not a person at all. It makes no decisions. People do. Evil people will start a war to increase their power. What should the innocent do? Submit?

Many Muslims are at war - physical violence - against non-Muslims. What should we do?

America has been fighting this war with one hand tied behind its back since the 1990s, in part because we refuse to recognize the enemy. It has not helped to have a POS President who is a member of the enemy...

Nor does what is going on now in any way compare to the horrors of WW1 & WW2.

Last month the pope, who has often condemned the concept of war in God's name, said it would be legitimate for the international community to use force to stop "unjust aggression" by Islamic State militants who have killed or displaced thousands of people in Iraq and Syria, many of them Christians.

And then he said this this month:

“War is never a necessity, nor is it inevitable. Another way can always be found: the way of dialogue, encounter and the sincere search for truth,”

Today’s wars are not directly comparable to the 60-80 million killed in WWII. Death toll is smaller but perhaps the number terrorized is larger.

“one that is religious, political and cultural.”

In the United States alone, Barry The Great, has created a Cold War at almost every level of our society. It is quite amazing that it has not gone ‘hot’.

Pope Francis being the leader of the Christian world would certainly be keenly aware that world war III will be (is) a biblical prophesied event.

Of course, some evangelicals believe that the catholic church is significant in the coming of the anti-Christ and the false prophet culminating out of WWIII.

One thing is for sure, God's plan is unfolding before us. Keep your eyes on Jerusalem and the greater middle east. WWIII is prophesied to begin in the land of the Euphrates. This would be Turkey, Iraq, Syria and skirting the border of Iran.

Alliances will be formed against Israel involving these nations, including Russia. We see this already taking shape in the headlines.

Significant events to keep your eyes open for are the rebuilding of the Jewish temple on the mount, peace agreement struck between Israel/A-rabs and the destruction of Damascus.

Beat me to it.

And a big thank you to all the veterans of WW 3, whether the campaign you fought in was a draw (Korea) or a loss (Vietnam) or a victory (the Berlin Airlift, blockade of Cuba, the liberation of Grenada, covert ops against the Nicaraguan communists or in support of the Afghan resistance to the Soviets or in places we've still never heard about, or contributing to Reagan's SDI initiative that, in a way worthy of Sun Tzu, was the decisive blow even though it involved no combat).

Thanks also to the vets who have fought in the campaigns of WW 4 thus far, even though our leadership has squandered much of your good work.

I think we are seeing Pope Francis’ realizing that what is going on in the Middle East and spreading throughout the world is, like it or not, a war that must be recognized as such. And one in which evil must be fought not just with prayer and words, but with brute force.

Essentially he is saying evil doesn’t exist. War, unfortunately , is sometimes necessary because of two factors....1. Evil doesn’t want it any other way and good decent moral people are dragged into it to protect civilization. 2. Decent peaceful people welcome evil unintentionally by failing to lead, i.e., showing and building strength, clarity and promoting moral equivalency rather than asserting moral truth.

And here is a lengthy article about the occasion where Pope Francis made his comments today. He was at the commemoration of the WW1 Battle of the Isonzo River where he laid a wreath among the 100,000 graves. His grandfather fought at and survived the battle. In casualties it was equal to the Somme or Verdun.

see my post # 19 about the occasion for the Pope’s remarks. The battle in which his grandfather fought as an Italian soldier.
