I’m ambivalent
Many Freepers....most actually....95% think the Israeli partition post WWII was perfect and no one should complain
Likewise few here realize that several of the early leaders of Fatah...PLO....Palestinian fighters and yes...terrorists...no question....were not Muslim Arabs but rather Catholic and Eastern Orthodox ...and Reds too BTW
Its not quite as neat and clean as Freepers customarily like their issues to be defined
I’m puzzled what Cruz was aiming for.....
The Christian population is about 40% of its original makeup of Israel since 1947-48 following the exodus or displacement of many
I actually know several who lived through all that....while they are obviously anti Jihad ....they are likewise not keen on being preached to by Cruz
Again....what was his purpose?
Its complicated....
No it’s not complicated...it’s Stealth Jihad...their purpose is to infiltrate organizations just as they did here. Cruz knew what he was walking into....and he also knew to expect anything...his purpose was accomplished....their disruption quickly had “light shed on their darkness within their group”.
Toufic Baaklini, president of Washington-based In Defense of Christians, which describes itself as committed to protecting Christians in the Middle East, said.....” individuals who disrupted the dinner event do not adhere to the groups principles.”
The gross over-simplification of the identity of the Palestinian people, that has become popular in recent years, serves no one's true interest. Yes, there were sizable numbers of both Christians & Jews, when Palestine was a Turkish province, under the Ottoman Empire, in addition to a not-overwhelming Muslim majority. I do not think that Senator Cruz meant to denigrate the Christian Palestinians--who were not responsible for rocket attacks on anyone;--and would hope that he be more cautious in articulating a foreign policy.
When all is said and done, the Washington/Jefferson policy of treating all with respect, but avoiding the issues of others, while extending good-will, remains the beacon to the future. We must avoid the "bull in a china shop," approach of Clinton/Bush/Obama.
