The NFL, already swamped with negative news in what has been a horrible week for the league, now has to deal with Adrian Peterson, one of its biggest stars, being indicted for injuring a child.
Multiple reports, including TMZ, Fox Sports and the Fox affiliate in Houston, said Peterson was indicted on Thursday in Montgomery County for reckless or negligent injury to a child. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the indictment stems from Peterson disciplining his son with a switch, which is a flexible rod.

A simple spanking is one thing. The photos indicate a beating that cut and bruised the child. You don’t treat a 4 year old child like this.
PERIOD!

According to police reports, the child, however, had a slightly different story, telling authorities that Daddy Peterson hit me on my face. The child also expressed worry that Peterson would punch him in the face if the child reported the incident to authorities. He also said that he had been hit by a belt and that there are a lot of belts in Daddys closet. He added that Peterson put leaves in his mouth when he was being hit with the switch while his pants were down. The child told his mother that Peterson likes belts and switches and has a whooping room.
That’s cruelty.
That second story sounds serious, heavy serious. The ‘switch’ story sound like foolish busybody-Bloomberging.
Something very wrong if that report is correct.
Looks that way ...
:(
If you ever ask me to take care of your child, know this, if he needs his butt whipped, I will reluctantly deliver. If you don’t want him to receive a spanking when he needs it, don’t ask me to take care of him.
My friend’s young daughter was told to stay on the porch while he and a couple of others were moving around a large pickup with a boat trailer, a tractor and an RV. She decided to leave the porch to walk out to where the action was - I popped her butt and sent her back on the porch, where she stayed. Later, her mom went ballistic...but I remain content in the knowledge that the girl is alive today.
I don’t have children of my own - but I have had the displeasure of needing to spank my nieces, nephews and a couple of boys I love like they are my own. Not fun. I absolutely hate to deliver a message that way - but they all understood it when I did.
My nieces and nephews are grown, and they love me dearly, as I do them. The two boys are still young, but they love me as much as I love them.
I used a lighter form of corporal punishment and it was always accompanied by loud voiced displeasure but never expressed in anger or rage. After a time or two of the swat on the rear with the loud voice, the loud voice alone did the trick of the needed correction.
My younger son used to call it my Drill Sgt. voice.
The pictures are horrible.Poor little boy.
I bet this is going to be become a daily occurrence
If true, the situation is much worse than Ray Rice.
There’s a difference between swatting a child with an open hand once or twice and beating them with an object. What Peterson did looks to me to be a beating, which is abuse.
3:50 PM PT — The Vikings have deactivated Peterson for Sunday’s game.

Oh just get over yourself! It was a rhetorical device!
Did you understand the point, or did you get your panties too bunched up with the notion that the police weren’t called? If you understood my meaning, then the device served.
BTW - whippin’ (and it’s a whuppin’ or a whippin’ - whoopin’ is what you do with hollerin’) his butt good and then calling the police would be MORE than a butt whippin’ by itself, wouldn’t it?
OH! Just in case you missed it - the point was: probably excessive, but there might possibly be a reason a kid could deserve that kind of whippin’
You don’t think the kid was coached to say that do you?
AP is All Done.
May have thought that to be plausible, until I saw the images and read his statements.
Peterson then texted the boys mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch. Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the childs mother that he felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh and also acknowledged the injury to the childs scrotum in a text message, saying, Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n Im all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!
Which instrument for punishment hurt you the most?
(A) Switch
(B) Belt
(C) Electrical Cord
(D) High-heeled Shoe
(E) You received a time-out. Your parents were wussies.
My moms belt. I could handle my dads, my dads hands and even my moms hands but my mothers belt was a whole other beast. It was thin and was more or less a whip.
Are you saying whipping a four year-old boy, to the degree in post #35, is okay?!
