Sixteen female senators from both parties called on the National Football League Thursday to adopt a zero-tolerance policy on domestic violence. The senators said they were "shocked and disgusted" by a video showing former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee and knocking her unconscious. "Tragically, this is not the only case of an NFL player allegedly assaulting a woman even within the last year," the senators wrote in a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The senators said they were deeply concerned that a new policy Goodell announced last month would let a player commit a violent act and return to the field after a six-game suspension. "If you violently assault a woman, you shouldn't get a second chance to play football in the NFL," the letter said.

I am shocked and disgusted that many of these senators were ever elected!
Should mind their own damn business.
They should agree to that if congress would have a lifetime ban on lying. Lets see how far that goes.
Just the NFL? Why not all major sports? I’ve heard that there has also been domestic violence in the WNBA.
As soon as the Senate passes lifetime bans on Senators for bribery, perjury, and, of course, domestic abuse, the NFL should follow suit. The most concentrated and successful criminal empire in this country resides in Congress.

This posturing would have more weight if the Senators also indicated that such a rule should be applied to the political class, and expressed formal regret that Ted Kennedy was not expelled from the Senate, and that Bill Clinton survived impeachment.
Isn’t ‘domestic abuse’ what these senators have been doing to taxpayers for decades? Should they not then be subject to a lifetime ban on holding public office?
Only upon clear convincing evidence or conviction, never as a result of allegation or accusation.

This is a horrible idea. What wife will report domestic violence if it will kill her golden egg?

Ray Rice should claim he is gay, and that his isolated moment of violence was an act of frustration caused by his life in the bigoted, straight world of professional football.
And yet most of these same women revere the Kennedys and Bill Clinton. Let’s face it the NFL is in the feds crosshairs because they are a successful corporation that makes tons of money and that doesn’t sit well with these people. This goes beyond Ray Rice. What he did was heinous but this is a law enforcement issue and the civil authorities needed to handle it not the NFL. From the concussion cases, the furor over the Redskins name, and now the Rice case isn’t it obvious the feds are trying to take down another successful American corporation. Rush is so right when he said the NFL executives have no clue what is truly happening to them and who they’re up against. This is not going to end well for them.
The only logical solution is to institute random polygraph testing to see if they have been abused or done some abusing. Of course.

Why stop at the NFL? Why not all businesses, everywhere?
I mean, you can lose ownership of a team for racist statements, so let’s just put a lifetime ban on anyone convicted from working anywhere.....This was the most important thing they had to do today? Hell-o, ISIS anyone?
Yeah, think about this. Obviously you have, but others certainly haven’t.

And isn’t this how government always works in the long run.
