“We’re too polite and laidback. Too slow to anger.”

Do you see that changing anytime soon?

Maybe, but its inbuilt virtually in our DNA.

Remember, we must be the only people on earth who apologise when someone stands on OUR feet!, lol.

That’s too bad. I’m a bit of an Anglophile and have a few Brit friends and acquaintances. I sincerely hope the British people rise up against this idiocy and deal with these people properly. By that I mean long prison sentences for everyone involved. Some mass deportations wouldn’t be a bad idea, either.

Thanks for the information. Have a good day.

It was all about how people in the UK are unable to protect themselves from home invasion or in this case the grand father wanting to shoot the guy. It devolved into how people in the UK if they did defend themselves, they would be the one’s who’d be arrested for assault. You have a computer, you look up the stories.

We’re too polite and laidback. Too slow to anger.

Yep, on both sides of the Atlantic. I forget whose quote it is, but there's one about the Anglos being the most warlike people on earth, once roused, and that opponents should disregard that at their own peril.

We're too tranquillized by "entertainment" (which now includes a daily dose of social brainwashing) these days; it'll take a lot to shake us from that stupor.

FWIW, some of us here understand the gun situation in the U.K. just fine. I'd love to compete in one of your 300 meter civilian service rifle matches. Pity that you're forced to modify the AR platform to remove the gas system, but it makes for quite a good straight-pull bolt action.

How many times do I have to listen to this crap?.

The British people are NOT unable to defend themselves, either personally or their home/families. This idea that that self-defence/defence of home is somehow illegal in the UK is the biggest load of tripe. One I am utterly sick of constantly correcting.

Esp as I am actually the victim of crime (2008) and had to use said (supposedly illegal) self defence!.

Get this straight: it is, always has been and always will be as legal for a Brit to defend self or family or home/property as anyone else. The law has been strengthened twice since 2007 in favour of the assaulted/homeowner. It is legal to even kill a burglar/assailant, as a homeowner did in Manchester in 2012.

Oh yeah? Then tell me why Scotland told its citizens to try to “talk” to home invaders into not harming them. You have a computer, right? Go do a search rather than ranting ....you have not read reports on how home invaders were the victim and the home owner arrested. I don’t make things up. You’ve got your head in the sand.

You’re defending your flag — I’m criticizing the progressivism that’s engulfed the UK’s territory. So spare me the vacant charge of ignorance.

Make the grandfather the Rotherham chief of police. Put him in charge of protecting the community.

Perhaps you should post links to your assertions, instead of telling me to go look, after all you brought it up.

As to arrests, again, I and other UK freepers have explained this before. In the UK, in an incident where a burglar has been injured, its standard police procedure to arrest everyone on the scene, question them, then release the homeowner after questioning without charge of course.

YES, its backward, even stupid, but that’s the UK way. I understand that it confuses US freepers as it seems like homeowners are being arrested and charged, but that’s not the case.

I know more about the subject than you. I am British, a homeowner, I know the law, the police, the history of this issue and of British crime. And as I said, I was in Sept 2008 the victim of the crime we are discussing. I used self-defence to defend myself and my property (for which I got nothing but commended by police and court).

I am defending British people and the British society.

Imagine if any British or Irish freepers or any non-American freeper referred to Americans and American society being pathetic. Cue s*itstorm and accusations of Limey/Euro arrogance, and anti-Americanism.

By all means criticise us, but please moderate your language. Use of words like pathetic are unnecessary.

Well after all you’re defending your position therefor you should refute me with facts. Then too. why should the police arrest the homeowner along with the invader who was injured in his invasion of private property? Only in the UK would they do that. Haul everyone in.

Yes, I know. I am not happy at the way its dealt with, but I had to explain what happens in the UK, backward or not.

Yep, that case made headlines in the UK and US, of course the difference is that the UK media reported rightly that the people were released within hrs on no charge. Everyone here who quotes me this case is unaware of this.
