"Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has been publicly called out by the owner of a local eatery for leaving a 20-cent tip on a bill totaling more than $60.

The Philadelphia burger joint PYT shared a receipt online showing what was described as Mr McCoy's paltry tip.

'The twenty cent tip that the Eagles' LeSean McCoy just left our server on his $60 check is going to come in really handy for that new official NFL McCoy jersey he had his heart set on,' the message that accompanied the receipt read. 'That is a .03% tip. New record!'"

Tough for them. Perhaps they should develop a skill wherein they don’t have to rely on tip income in the future. No one can “make” someone tip.

I used to work with a BEAUTIFULLY stunning cocktailer in Biloxi. A guy won several million on a slot and tipped not a soul. She said another guy (some famous baseball player) tipped her several thousand at a VIP table and later made it clear that he expected some [deleted] for that money. She laughed at him.

Adding an automatic gratuity to the bill is like adding an automatic “B” to a student’s report card.

It is amazing. We also had someone win millions years ago and tip nothing, zero, not even a dollar for the slot girls that paid them off. And, worse, acted all the time like this was no big deal for them. No one, of course, HAS to tip. But we see lots of people who appear to get some sort of snide pleasure out of being visited by great fortune and NOT sharing even a cent. Honestly, I can’t fathom such a soul.

Lucky he got the 20 cents.... A certain segment of our society were never even taught the meaning of the word “tip” or why.

Having family that have been in the restaurant biz for my whole life informs me of this.

And I don't want anything from Mr McCoy, but...maybe an apology to his server who gave him excellent service would be cool,’ Mr Up summed up, before directing all hate mail to his email address.

Ah, the aggressive street-beggar approach to customer service - harass your guests for gratuities and then throw a public hissy-fit and demand apologies when they don't give you as much as you want. Gee, I sure want to plan a dinner at this dump.

Tips are ‘voluntary’? Only if you like stiffing the person feeding you.

‘Wages’ for wait staff is $2.something.

Which covers the IRS take of the servers pay!

So the ‘paycheck’ for most servers is $0.00

All that they make is WHAT YOU TIP.

What I get from this article: don’t want Lesean McCoy as a customer and don’t want this guy as my waiter

Guess he didn’t want to “act White” by leaving a normal tip.

maybe he left such an insulting tip because the service was sooo bad... a .20 tip would make a statement...

I would boycott the place

I would too.

The number one concern most people have when going into a restaurant is the fear of someone spitting (or worse) in their food.

Since this restaurant's staff have proven themselves to be vindictive a-holes, I wouldn't eat there.

If they're willing to try to ruin a man's reputation, I figure they're willing to spit in my food.

I don’t assume to paint with a broad brush, but my wife expressed the same observations when reminiscing of her youthful jobs as a server at a chain restaurant and, later, at a luxury hotel. She stated that the staff would just rotate “turns”, so that no one person would have to work without reward. And, she added that these types of tables were the most demanding of patrons beyond measure.

Years ago, a bunch of us went out to dinner, and got truly abysmal service. Entrees delivered to various people at the table over a two-HOUR period, no refills on even water, etc.

I went classic, and left a 39 cent tip on a $100+ meal.

The waiters FOLLOWED US OUT TO COMPLAIN.

I smiled, and told them that tips were to reward good service, and, given the service we received, I was generous. . .

Luckily, I had paid in cash. . .

Mister McCoy should, if he is able, post several receipts which show him tipping generously ...Black people don’t tip well, period, so i would doubt he is able.

A tip is a GIFT for good service. It is not a mandatory charge.

Good service = good tip. Bad service = bad tip. Simple as that.

When I receive good professional service I give a good tip. If not, I always leave one penny on the table so that maybe they will get the hint and improve their attitude.

I leave the penny so that there will be no doubt in their minds that I may have simply forgot to leave a tip.
