ATLANTIC CITY, NJ -- A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago, while league officers have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week.
The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."
The law enforcement official, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, says he had no further communication with any NFL employee and can't confirm anyone watched the video. The person said they were unauthorized to release the video but shared it unsolicited, because they wanted the NFL to have it before deciding on Rice's punishment.
The NFL has repeatedly said it asked for but could not obtain the video of Rice hitting Janay Palmer - who is now his wife - at an Atlantic City casino in February.

Yep!
The NFL is punishing Rice ‘ex post facto’ - he’s a sh*tbag, but I hope he sues the sh*t outta the NFL.
Of course, most of whatever he wins will go to his soon-to-be-ex wife.
Everyone involved in this is a scum.
I want to see the phone record. Anybody can say “this is Elaine from the NFL” only phone records can say it is. And really so what, maybe the league didn’t try their hardest on the investigation, maybe they were hoping some stuff would go away. They got to the right place, he’s out, they have a rule. People that worry about this issue should be happy.
I expect lots of heads to roll. Earlier this summer because of their actions a guy who murdered a man in our neighborhood got away with it.
BTW, that was the first murder in our town in 100 years.
The NTL, for National Thugball League
....but who decides if the name goes to football, or to basketball?
Anyone recall five years ago when Oakland Raider head coach Tom Cable punched defensive backs coach Randy Hanson in the face and broke Hanson’s jaw? Anyone remember the ferocious punishment meted out by Goodell for that? No, I don’t either.
After all, Cable was not a player, he was management.
Anyone recall the ESPN reporter beating up his girlfriend in the street in Los Angeles around that era? Certainly the sports scribblers and babblers must have given it extensive coverage, correct? I mean they could not be such enormous super hypocrites could they?
From what I am reading here in Atlantic County, the prosecutor's office shouldn't have offered him acceptance into the program
He won’t get his job back. NFL teams can cut players at any time for any reason. Technically that isn’t a punishment, teams can only suspend players for 4 games, so he’s not suspended (which would be punishment) he’s just cut (no longer wanted on the team). The NFL can easily say new evidence caused them to extend the suspension, their new rule says 6 games for first offense with pluses or minuses depending on evidence. So they’re in the clean. Now he probably will be reinstated at some point, but I doubt the Ravens will pick him up, he’ll have to play the free agency game the same way Vick (who was also cut by his team and suspended by the league) did.
This Roger Goodell guy is an incompetent sniveling boob. Get rid of him. If we’re short of viable candidates for the job, I, Milton Miteybad, am willing to volunteer. I couldn’t do any worse than this Goodell guy, who seems to be some kind of mental candy-ass, frankly.
Good response, thanks.
I’m just tired of the whole media attitude that pro athletes can do no wrong, starting with the OJ apologists who still exist and still have sportscasting jobs. I even heard one on the radio say, “C’mon man, he couldn’t have done it — he’s The Juice!”
The same goes for Sandusky and Penn State — what a can of worms that nearly opened (and I guarantee you Paterno was more involved than anyone wants to admit). But officially we’re supposed to believe that a bunch of wealthy old men had no particular reason to be hanging around with muscular college athletes and tasty little boys, and of course that’s not a problem throughout HS and college sports whenever you hear about some boy’s coach who turned out to be a pedo.
That’s where this stuff leads if it’s swept under the carpet, and if Goodell has been complicit in covering up a domestic violence problem or other thug behavior, then he should pay the price so they can clean up the league.
I think the law enforcement official might be in trouble. If he sent something to a persons employer, from an investigation, I would think there are some privacy laws in place.
NFL: Negros, Felons, and Liberals.
I’m not a lawyer, but I play one as TZ.
Congratulations. You’ve just explained why his wife is sticking with him.
