AP source says Ray Rice video sent to NFL months ago
ABC-13 Houston/AP ^ | 9/10/2014 | Unattributed

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ -- A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago, while league officers have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week.

The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."

The law enforcement official, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, says he had no further communication with any NFL employee and can't confirm anyone watched the video. The person said they were unauthorized to release the video but shared it unsolicited, because they wanted the NFL to have it before deciding on Rice's punishment.

The NFL has repeatedly said it asked for but could not obtain the video of Rice hitting Janay Palmer - who is now his wife - at an Atlantic City casino in February.

Considering everything he’s done to emasculate the game, and his kowtowing to the Left from the get-go, why would they want him to leave?

Unless there is a conviction the NFL should stay out of it.

“And the NFL couldn’t get the tape before this? Bullsh*t - they didn’t WANT the tape.”

WRONG!

The NFL DID get the tape before this! They tried to bury it. Looks like ole Rog didn’t learn anything from Watergate - THE COVERUP IS WORSE THAN THE CRIME!

Bye, Rog...just like I predicted.

Because they can? The left would consider it a real feather in their cap to bag an NFL commissioner. Makes Donald Sterling look like chump change.

Well, of course that video might be misleading. It appears to be edited. It’s her fault because she was drunk. She startled him and he responded with his “superior reflexes” (i.e. thug instincts). That’s probably the only time he ever hit her. He worked his ass off to get where he is. At least he didn’t kill dogs like Michael Vicks.

(All real examples of excuses heard in the MSM.)

An anonymous source plays a voicemail he says came from the NFL. Yeah, that’s believable.

Really I’m not sure why people are so desperately looking for a smoking gun here. The right thing happened in the end, yeah there were stumbles getting there, but the errors were corrected. And now the NFL is the first league to punish a guy for domestic violence and the first league to have codified rules against domestic violence. If the feminists hang him because he stumbled to get there they’ll send exactly the opposite message they want sent.

“Unless there is a conviction the NFL should stay out of it.”

The problem is NFL has a troubling history of covering up thug behavior, which is a growing problem among their players.

An arbitrator will get Rice his job back.He was never charged (so he was never convicted)

Maybe not this year, but it will happen.

If he completes his diversion program(often done for 1st time offenders to avoid prosecution), he’ll get his job back. Double jeopardy also applies to employment law.

There is no massive cover up. If there was you wouldn’t know about it.

There are 3 players currently under investigation under the new rule. Plus of course one suspended indefinitely.

Yes they aren’t back tracking through every guy that’s had this problem in the past. Much like when they put the personal conduct policy in place they didn’t go through all the players that ever had DUIs and suspend them.

“And now the NFL is the first league to punish a guy for domestic violence and the first league to have codified rules against domestic violence.”

That right there suggests there’s a lot more of this going on than the public knows about. Of course the libs will try to blame it on head injuries, or trot out their specious Superbowl Sunday statistics. But this is a cultural problem infecting pro sports that none dare call by name.

“An anonymous source plays a voicemail he says came from the NFL. Yeah, that’s believable.”

LOL. That’s what I was thinking. Wow the paragon of objective fact at FR seems to be giving into mass hysteria.

Now, if this is confirmed on the voicemail, that is different. I don’t trust “unconfirmed” sources or stories.

I’m pretty sure he was indicted. He married his girlfriend the next day, then applied for a first offender program and was accepted. In a few months he would have a clean record with no conviction.

Not really. It’s been known around sports for quite a while that there was a very quiet domestic violence problem, not just for the NFL but the whole industry. Athletes don’t hear a lot of no, and get a bit bristly when they do, especially after a bad day at the “office”. It usually comes out in divorces, and the press rarely if ever bothers to pick. Guy on the radio this morning said there’s 21 NFL teams that have at least one player with a domestic violence charge on his record. Also plenty of NBA teams, NHL teams, and even MLB teams.

By being the first league to have this policy in place the NFL is calling it by name. They really shouldn’t punish the first sports commissioner in America to do that. Yeah it would be nice that he got there without the fits and starts, but he got to the place some people have been complaining sport needs to get to for at least a decade. The people who have been pinging on this issue need to not lose the forest through the trees.

If a police office illegally sent a video they didn’t have a right to, how can it be used against him? By viewing it they would be breaking laws
