The Ray Rice story isn't close to being over.
Although the Baltimore Ravens released Rice and the NFL suspended him indefinitely following the release of the bombshell video of Rice striking his wife in an Atlantic City hotel elevator, TMZ claims it has more to the story, via Philly.com.
TMZ's Harvey Levin appeared on Fox5 Philly and said that he plans to release information that the NFL knew about and saw the Rice video (which the league has denied) but that it ignored it.

The NFL can’t put him in jail. That is for a prosecutor. And yes, they COULD try him even if his wife doesn’t testify, using the video.
But the chances of him getting convicted if his wife testifies for him are probably low.
I don’t know why they didn’t try to prosecute him. I presume they had the video.
And I’ll say again — I kind of think this type of thing happens fairly regularly with NFL players and girls they are with. I wouldn’t be surprised if half the players haven’t hit SOMEBODY in their lives.

It looks like she hit her face on the elevator railing. That must have hurt. However, I saw no blood, and after she “regained consciousness” she still took a couple of swipes at him when he tried to give her her shoes.
Agreed. We all knew he knocked her out. What did people expect to see? He is an ass. Two game suspension was a joke. So now the NFL policy is supposed to be 6 games. Second offense is lifetime ban. Did that change? Stupid policy but it is their rules. Does it change if there is video? Again, everyone knew he knocked her out. They need help. Again, two games w as ridiculous, but now. The NFL just looks stupid.

Not to defend Goodell, (a guy I think is ruining football) but I think just the video of him exiting the elevator, and dragging his woman out of it is, and should be considered damning enough.
This is a massive cover up by the NFL and the state prosecutor.
We have zero tolerance for domestic abuse... on camera. There could be serious consequences for any player who assaults their girlfriend or spouse... on camera. So let’s be clear - do not attack, strike or otherwise abuse your wife or girlfriend under any circumstances at any time... on camera.
Yes. No one has a right to assault anyone, and everyone has a legal right to defend themselves. And before you go ranting about how women can't hurt men, check this out.
Having said all of this, I think your assessment of what happened is correct.

It turns out that the NFL’s policy on domestic violence is the same as overturning a call made by the officials on the field. There must be indisputable video evidence.
I read that he gets to keep his $25 million. Of course, we know where he’ll be in a few years.

Its not the swats that made him wallop her. It was whatever she was saying. She was ragging on him and provoking him. Not excusing anything. Just saying how it went down (my opinion) And it was not the first time that punches followed provocations. They are both into this.
