Charlotte Observer has announced it will no longer be printing the name Redskins in local articles, citing controversy surrounding the name.
The newspaper announced on Saturday that it will start the ban Sunday. The paper said it will still cover the team, but will not refer to them by that term.

"The Charlotte Observer is joining a growing number of newspapers around the country that have stopped printing the name "Redskins" in their local articles."
ROTFLOL!
What an ignorant bunch of maroons ya'll are. Oh, and hypocritical maroons too, since I notice you show no hesitation whatsoever in displaying the "offensive" redskins injun logo! Oh, and the irony, ignorance, foolishness, and stupidity is just too delicious that you used the word "Redskins" in the very headline where you're promising to never use the word "Redskins" again!
Still, in the spirit of helpfulness, I've included a link below so you can also NOT print the OTHER 2,128 "offensive" injun mascot names in current use across the nation:
http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-2128-native-american-mascots-people-arent-talking-about/
BTW, I just can't WAIT to see the sport articles ya'll write when the Panthers play the redskins, you know, all of those verbal cartwheels necessary not to mention "that team that shall not be named", which by the way, is the way I suggest your refer to that team whose name shall not be named.

Are they going to refer to it by the name of the Slave Holder who was our First President?
Or are they going to refer to it as “The Football Team that shall not be named”?

Wish I had the cut from “The Outlaw Josey Wales” where the old womwn talks of shooting and killing “Redskins” and turns to Chief Dan George and says “no offense” and Chief George says “none taken”.

Washington will soon change their name. Whether one finds it offensive or not is beside the point. When people are ashamed to speak the team's name or wear their licensed gear, it has become a liability, an unnecessary distraction from the Redskin's sole mission; winning football games.
I believe this will be the final season they play as the Washington Redskins. It's a lost battle.

This is easy.
Stop using "The Charlotte Observer".
Don't pay these stinkin' liberals ONE PENNY !
Let them live on their own words, or DIE!
Erica Ritz covered this issue.
Glenn Beck tackled the issue head-on.
Ninety percent of Native Americans feel that the name isnt offensive and shouldnt be changed, Beck remarked, echoing a letter written by the Redskins owner Dan Snyder to fans.Students at primarily Native American schools all across America wear the name with pride, and say now theyre afraid they might lose the name.
At Kingston Oklahoma high school, which is 58 percent Native American, the name Redskins has been worn by its students for 104 years.
In fact, Redskins was a name first used by Native Americans.
In 1932, the NFL team moved to the historic Fenway Park and were left under the leadership of George Preston Marshall.
The very next year, Marshall changed the name to Redskins.
Why?
Beck continued.Well thats a good question for the president to ask
the name was changed to Redskins to honor then-coach Lone Star Dietz, an American Sioux.
So the name actually pays tribute to a great people.
Switching to a deeply sarcastic voice, imitating those who want the name changed, Beck remarked:But the people it pays tribute to?
Oh, I guess they just dont know any better.
But Obama does.
And Peter King does.
And NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell does.
But the majority of the Indians
dont have a clue at all.
The speech police using political correctness again to take care of these helpless, hopeless people so they are never harmed again.
Its for their own good
Beck said perhaps its not those who dont want the name changed who are out of touch, but those

They’re probably having money problems having lost, especially surburban, subscribers and advertisers. Most newspapers don’t support those who support them and eventually lose that support.

My daughter observed that the football team’s name is just fine. It’s the mascot that could be changed. She suggested a red skin potato mascot, like Mr. Potato Head. But a guy dressed up like a peanut would work, too.
(But our family has no problem with the team being Redskin native Americans. Ever since we drove past a middle school on the Navajo reservation in Arizona. Their marquee proudly stated that they were the Redskins. If it doesn’t bother them, why should it bother anybody else?)

Instead of, the Charlotte "Observer," perhaps today's newspaper, perhaps originally so named to reflect an intended "objective" role in a free society, might be called, the "Charlotte Propagandist."
To: catnipman
Not at all surprised. It's Charlotte.
Whatever has the media by the short hairs in the rest of progressive Amerika, now has a tight grip on CharMech's, too, especially since 2008.

It’s the latter, and the latest editors must wear “Smuggies” thinking they’re so politically correct.
The Observer is utter dreck; non-news for bored suburbanites.

But IMHO it's not really about the Redskins, or other words like "queer" or "muslim terrorist".
At the core of their efforts to dictate the details of our existence is the desire to conrol and then eliminate anyone who doesn't see eye to eye with them.
By eliminate I mean outlaw words, thought and behavior (we have that now), forced compliance (moving in that direction), brainwash and re-program (government schools), incarcerate or, as their final solution, many would have no compunction about actual elimination.
Conservatives want to present facts to liberals and open their eyes to reality.
Liberals want to use force - to stomp conservatives and grind them to dust beneath their boots.

Can we start saying, “The Natives are restless”??
Can we get a stock ticker running along the bottom of all TV news programs telling us the currently acceptable and unacceptable euphemisms?
Perhaps a Dow Jones Euphemisms average by category - race, gender, orientation.
We also need a Wild Card euphemism that we can use in all those Polish, Blond and Jewish jokes that are now verboten.
Perhaps the usual media targets will suffice? White males, Christians, Southerners, Rural folk (except black sharecroppers, of course).
Insanity!
