World Bulletin/News Desk

Arab foreign ministers meeting in Cairo on Sunday are expected to issue a resolution backing Iraqi efforts to confront militants who have overrun large areas of Iraq and Syria, diplomats said.

An Iraqi diplomatic source said Baghdad had proposed a draft resolution that would endorse its efforts to confront ISIL militants and condemn the group's actions as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Other diplomatic sources said the Arab League would agree a resolution endorsing the U.S. military campaign against the group.

Egypt's official Mena news agency quoted a source saying the foreign ministers would agree to coordinate with the United States.

It was not immediately clear if this would be part of the same resolution.

KERRY TALKS

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry discussed combat against ISIL militants with the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby ahead of the Arab League summit Sunday.

According to a senior U.S. State Department official, they discussed the need for the Arab League and its members to take a strong position in the coalition that is developing against the ISIL, or IS.

Kerry underscored the importance of decisive action to stop the flow of foreign fighters, to counter the financing of the IS, and to combat its incitement, in his phone call with Elaraby.

He also noted that fighting ISIL militants would require "a holistic approach" that will take time, persistence; and require combining military, law enforcement, intelligence, and both economic and diplomatic tools.

Sorry to rain on their upcoming parade, but i simply don’t believe it’ll last. It’d be superficial at best. Turn around in a while & we’ll get incarnations of IS at least. IS is too far embedded in that region & they don’t want to completely remove it. Only proof will be that we’ll never hear or see another IS..

“Endorse, condemn, agree” are all weasel words that don’t mean a thing.

How about, “Yes, we will immediately send three divisions to the front for as long as it takes to kill them all.”

It’s about time they did their own house cleaning.

Let the Arab League clean up their own backyard. The Kurds will help.

In the same way that what we just did in Iraq is being undone, whatever we might do again will be undone. There isn’t a better ending down the road, so we should use it for bombing practice.

I know, IS will be here, coming over our borders, threatening our cities.... Another name for IS is Muslims, and America thinks they are the coolest thing since chocolate ice-cream.

I’ll believe the Arab League cares when some of their men with four wives are on the battle field. Until then this is a very efficient way to kill off the excess men Arab cultures produce by their insane and evil ‘religious’ beliefs.
