Your doctor won’t need to carry the script to the pharmacy, just give you a physical, signed copy rather than call into the pharmacy.
It’s all about reducing the level of opiate addiction.
I just spent a couple months working on a story on local heroin addiction. Almost everyone started out with a doctor’s prescription for an opiate painkiller.
Some just stole their parents’ pills before getting hooked, but most had legit scripts, paid for pills, then started with heroin because it was cheaper.
If possible it probably would be worth a trip to Colorado or Washington to purchase and see if it works (but you'd probably have to try a number of strains).
The surprise is that “FDA” means “food & drug administration.”
From their actions, I always thought it stood for something vulgar.
Trust me, pharmacists are thrilled too.
Just for additional giggles, Tramadol is now a C-IV. I feel so protected.
Buckets of free heroin on every street corner. Problem solved in a week.
One of the problems is that there are people on SSDI that get these free of charge and then sell them on the street for $5-10 a pop to supplement their income.
It's a class 2 narcotic and I have to go to the doctors office and get a new prescription and hand carry it to the pharmacy every time. They have just added vicadone to the same requirement.

The bottom line is you have see a doctor 3very time you need a refill.
Some 15,000 people die each from drug overdosing.
To that I say “Uh, really? I give a flip about them and their inability to manage life or a “somewhat low” tolerance.
The costs for this are going to be extraordinary and the demand for everyone’s time intolerable.
So, you’ll go to your doctor and wait, wait, wait....before receiving your script.
Then you’ll have to go the pharmacy and wait, wait, wait...then deliver your request and hope some idiot from China can’t understand what was written or wants to pretend the government can tell you what to do....or, or...maybe the script isn’t acceptable for a variety of reasons.
Then....you’ll wait like...forever until your script is filled and then you’ll wait in line again, behind all the welfare queens who get theirs free, while you pay for it out of your own pocket.
So, now you are required to make three trips for something you use to make only one for.
But hey! On a positive note CVS no longer sells cigarettes but, you can still obtain booze, chips and candies high in salt, fat and bereft of any real nutrition.
They are counting on a 12% reduction of pills.
Can you imagine what the doctors office is going to look like now?
There will be regular patients and then a boat load more people waiting impatiently for a DEA request form.
Isn’t this same government handing out methadone to anybody who wants it?
This is an absolutely awful prohibition. Chronic pain needs to be treated continuously. I hope those who did these get such debilitating pain and never recover!
I’m in the same boat..... managing pain can be tricky at best and this is just stupid. Those who are addicts will still get their pills through the illegal mill and those of us with pain will pay the price.
Just plain crazy
I have injured my back three times over the past ten years or so and I took those drugs and they barely eased the pain, mostly I had to wait till my back healed, for the pain to go away. they are NOT addictive. they do not cause a feeling of euphoria or being stoned. As a hippie from the 1960s I KNOW what stoned is. And pain pills barely ease pain at all.
I don’t think I’ve seen more self-proclaimed experts in any other administration, and so many screwed up decisions come down the pike none the less.
I’ve tried using every other medication to ease the pain of a tooth ache.
Tylenol, aspirin, Excedrin, Motrin, Tylenol number three. Nothing even remotely eases the pain.
Hydrocodone with acetaminophen stops the pain in minutes. I remain clear headed. I take two or three per day for a couple of days. That’s it.
I tolerate pain pretty well. I don’t get pain relief shots when I have dental work done. I walk in, sit down, they go to work. I leave feeling clear headed, no numbness, and my lip isn’t sagging. I have the same sensation with or without the shots. I just quit getting them.
I’m talking drilling on cavities, root canals, and minor gum surgery.
So when I need Vicodin, I need Vicodin. Now it will be next to impossible to get. You’ll need a Class Two Script to get it.
This F’n administration has got a god complex to end all god complexes.
Create a problem and then come up with a solution that costs everybody in time and money with little to no regard for the patients and sufferers and requires more people and more effort to manage
We need to make sure that their budget takes a huge hit so they can only concentrate on the things that matter and stop interfering with the patient/doctor relationship

While I don’t agree with your position on Pot. the pain med hits me too. We just have to have 1 paper script, but it must be refilled and signed for each month. And doctor can write for 6 months worth. Same goes for Valium. It probably also will include those addictive drugs like Xanax. All our other meds are 90 day.
I just filled a NORCO script yesterday, and it has 1 refill, but that is due to the fact I had a bad reaction to the 10 mg yellow tab. This was Lore Tab, minus some Tylenol. Nothing was to change but the level of Tylenol. Yet the color of the pill and fillers did change. And I had a bad adverse reaction to it. Even the 5 mg is no longer white, but a off white with red flecks, and it made me sick at my stomach and dizzy despite the anti-nausea med I take with it.
Navy base fills our scripts, DOD MANDATED 4/14/14. Medicare and Tricare Life (Ret. Military over 65) our health care is totally government controlled.
The VA hands out this drug by the TRUCK LOAD! Go stand by the VA Rx window and probably 70% of the people in line will get it.
Heck they may as well just put it in a Pez dispenser.
