So the cops stop a car full of gang bangers speeding for an unknown reason and they are at fault? How about the kids use common sense, call 911 and get trained paramedics on the scene. Also the cops could be a little cautious as gunshots obviously occurred in the area.

From the article, it sounds like the cops did call for medical assistance as soon as they realized that the kid was really hurt.

In some places, calling 911 is a long wait where a train don't come.

When I was coughing up blood, it was faster to have my daughter take me to the ER (and much cheaper) than call 911.

Call 911 and the pizza delivery place. See who gets there first....

Cops aren’t allowed to have an “unknown” reason. They need a little thing called “probable cause”. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. Then there’s the fact that these boneheads in blue let a wounded human being bleed out without, apparently, lifting a finger to help.

How about the cops call for emergency medical aid, or is that too much to ask? They’re the ones with the radios after all.

Dipstick.

The best way to deal with gunshot wounds seems to be to skip prehospital care and get the patient to the hospital asap.

Studies have shown that trauma victims thrown in the back of a car and rushed to the hospital have higher survival rates than the ones who arrive in an ambulance, and not because the severity of the trauma differs.

In Philadelphia these days, when the police arrive at a shooting scene they don’t wait for the paramedics, they throw the pt in the car and head for the nearest trauma center. Maybe they stop a spurting wound but that’s it.

What do you mean, cops and many other people have transported their own critically injured to the hospital. When literally minutes count you can call ahead as your driving to ER and they’ll generally be ready and waiting...Otherwise you can stand and wait hoping paramedics are dispatched, arrive and transport to ER in time....

If one of mine are very serious or critical and within a few minutes or so drive to an ER, I’m not hanging around waiting for anyone.

Until you have walked in the shoes of one who has been shot, save your advice...

I have been, accidentally self inflicted by a .44 magnum (Dirty Harry’s favorite) in a back pasture.

It would have taken 911 responders an hour just to locate me even though we are less than 10 minutes from the paramedic dispatch point and 20 minutes from the major trauma hospital ER.

We were lucky, it was the opening Sunday of football season and IH-35 was empty, as was the ER.. My grandson was on the phone with 911 advising them we were hauling a** (going very fast) to Scott & White. From the time the accident happened until we were in the ER was less than thirty minutes.

I was the entertainment for the ER staff since the ER free loaders were home watching TV on their big screens. The ER Doctor in Charge was a personal friend... Another story but a good time was had by all...

As an aside, I was not in a life threatening situation other than loss of blood which we had under control. It was a leg and foot flesh wound with no bones or tendons broke. I was lucky.

you forgot that there is a handful of cop haters on here because they hate the law and want anarchy,.\

After Zimmermann and the Ferguson shooting then they appear but quickly disappear once facts get out, but lie a good liberal they will use anything to justify their hatred of anything which calls for law .

See my post above - in addition there are or at least were parts of LA that the ambulance crews would simply refuse to go. The dispatch request would mysteriously get lost. Same thing in a lot of other cities; Chicago and New York housing project areas come immediately to mind.

Calling 911 is fine if you know they’re going to be there fast, if you live in an area where this is known behavior. It is not fine if you know the ambulance isn’t going to get there in time or worse isn’t going to show up at all.
