British jihadist fighters have contacted a university in London to say they regret their decision to join Islamist extremists in the Middle East.
The jihadists, thought to be a 30-strong group, said they wanted to return home to Britain but were afraid they would be jailed if they did so.
They also complained about feeling ‘disillusioned’ over the last two weeks. It was unclear whether this related to the recent beheadings of two American journalists.
Some who travelled to fight against Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime are instead being forced to get involved in in-fighting among rebel groups.
One fighter, who claimed to represent the group, said: ‘It’s not what we came for but if we go back (to Britain) we will go to jail. Right now, we are being forced to fight – what option do we have?’
Professor Peter Neumann of King’s College, who spoke to the former jihadist, said the British extremists want to quit but feel trapped by Britain’s hardline stance.
Prof Neumann said the Government should set up a ‘deradicalisation programme’ for ormer jihadis wanting to return to the UK.

So they find out that returning to the 7th Century isn’t quite as exciting as the recruitment posters seemed to indicate.
Probably the lack of tweets and texting.
It could just be a ruse to get back to England and do a little martyr work.
The prodigal son was about how we should treat a contrite person who has sinned, but turns to Christ, not about Jihadists that want to come back to the west because they like it better than the hellhole they’ve chosen.
If ANY are allowed to come back it should be under 1 condition: Automatic prison time, and 2 TO NO ONE who has EVER murdered civilians of any religion, be they Syrian or Iraqi Jews, Christians, any other minor religion and Muslims of another sect.
Britain should officially communicate their identities to ISIS, and they are willing, per their request, to take them back as British subjects and members of the Church of England.
Saves the Brits the trouble of executing them themselves.

People used to walk to the ME and back all the time.
IS would kill these guys if they publicly announced that they want out (and probably will), and they know it. Therefore, I suggest that this is a ruse in order to get 30 radicals back into the UK.
UK should identify all friends and family of these jihadie mooselims, revoke citizenship of all, pack them on a rusty tramp steamer, and ship them to Syria. That way, there is nothing for these jihadist mooselims to be looking for in the UK.
