Video shows profane Morgan urging vote on pot measure (Florida)

TAMPA — The “Vote No on 2” campaign fighting legalization of medical marijuana is circulating a video that shows pro-pot kingpin John Morgan in some not-so-compassionate moments during a post-debate party last week.

In what appears to be a cell-phone video shot at the Boots ’n’ Buckles Saloon in Lakeland after Morgan debated Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd on Thursday night, the Orlando-based trial lawyer addresses a pro-pot crowd with a microphone in one hand and a drink in the other.

“If you don’t (expletive deleted) get up and vote, (expletive deleted) it all, we can’t win, I’m telling you,” he declared to the boisterous group. “If you don’t get out of your (expletive deleted) bed and vote, we will lose this election.”

The “No on 2” folks jabbed Morgan for his profanity-laced remarks, but also pointed to other statements that they claim reveal Morgan’s true intention – ultimately, full legalization of marijuana.

Morgan told the crowd, “I didn’t smoke a piece of grass all the way here. But I’ll tell you this, once I get outside the borders of Polk County, I might smoke a lot of grass.”

Sarah Bascom, spokeswoman for Vote No On 2, said the video, “in all of its offensive glory, shows John Morgan’s real reasons behind his campaign to legalize marijuana. Their campaign has tried to be the moral authority on compassion, but clearly, their chairman fell off the wagon.”

The No on 2 campaign sent reporters covering the medical marijuana issue a link to an edited version of Morgan’s remarks posted on YouTube. A longer version appeared last week on the SaintPetersBlog political website, including laudatory remarks toward Judd and stories of his family members’ health struggles.

Florida would become the 24th state along with the District of Columbia to legalize some form of medical marijuana if Amendment 2 garners at least 60 percent approval on the Nov. 4 ballot.

Morgan has been the chief backer of the effort, donating nearly $4 million to the cause. His “Morgan and Morgan, for the people” catchphrase runs regularly on television and billboards.

In a statement released Tuesday, Morgan downplayed the video.

“Some of my speeches will be G-rated and some will be X-rated. Some will be humorous and tongue in cheek,” he said.

Morgan noted he was speaking to young voters whose turnout will be critical.

“While this is not language I use in church, my message is the same one. Very sick people need our help. The Florida legislators refused to even hear testimony, much less vote.

“My comments at the end of the unedited video are what is important. This is for my brother and hundreds of thousands of people like him. I am not a user of marijuana. As I said, ‘I am not a marijuana guy.’ This is about compassion. It will not be the last time you hear a speech from me that jokes around with the crowd nor will it be the last time you hear a speech with profanity. I am not running for office and never will. That allows me to tell the truth and motivate the way I see fit.”

Morgan is a typical obscene foul mouth hard core liberal. His whole purpose in promoting a pot agenda in Florida is to get all the stoners out to vote for Charlie Crist.

I hope I live long enough to see that fatass ambulance chaser put behind bars for some legal impropriety. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

He has absolutely no problem referencing God in all of his commercials though. He’s the bottom of the barrel IMO.

FWIW, polls here in FL show the initiative passing with 60% or more of the vote.

If the anti-pot group doesn’t use this content for televised ads, they are crazy. If anyone is on the fence about legalizing pot, this should convince them it’s a bad thing and John Morgan is the poster boy.

John Morgan has a potty-mouth.

In what world does that count as evidence that medical marijuana is a bad idea, or that the War on Drugs is a good one?

Yeah it's a horrible thing for the feds to not kick in doors with machineguns in the middle of the night like the SS on krystalnacnt.

Just horrible when american citizens are stripped of their God give rights to seek relief from pain and disease because some people don't like cannabis.

Horrible as horrible can be that someone should be able to provide their own meds from their garden instead of big pharma.

It's horrible alright.

His message is to young voters, who he claims are very sick? Sure thing, we believe ya.

If it was about very sick people it would only be proscribed by a doctor for those with less than a year to live, like terminal cancer patients.

98+% of medical pot cards are issued to young stoners with nothing wrong with them except being lazy stoners.

"In what world does that count as evidence that medical marijuana is a bad idea,"

I'll believe it when I see an FDA approval. Until then, put it with all the other non FDA approved medicines. I don't remember voting on any other medical remedies. Do you?

We’re not voting on a medical remedy, we’re voting on whether people should be imprisoned for many years for using a medical treatment that has been shown to be effective in many cases.

There simply is no logical reason to imprison people for possession of pot while selling liquor openly down the street.

Other drugs, different questions arise. But classifying pot in with heroin and meth is just stupid.

This is being handled at the state level, as it should be. The US Constitution has nothing to say about it one way or the other. Let the people bote on the issue!

1/31/2014 => 57% Y; 31% N; 11% U

4/25/2014 => 60% Y; 32% N; 8% U

8/24/2014 => 64% Y; 26% N; 10% U

Or they sound a lot like him. Either way, as soon as marijuana is legalized, the same ones beating the drum for the legalization of marijuana will begin beating their drums for the legalization of man to child sex and woman to child sex.

Does that make you feel less like a Nazi?

Denying the sick and dying maybe their only access to treatment, just because you hate stoners?
