DETROIT (WJBK) - Several hundred people, mostly union workers, crowded old Tiger Stadium to hear vice president Joe Biden speak Monday morning ahead of the organized labor's annual parade.

The vice president's speech helped kick off the start of the Detroit Labor Day parade. This is the second time Biden has been in Detroit on Labor Day in the past three years.

I don't think they saved anything. The red brick road might be all the memorial it gets. Carl Levin wanted some 3 million dollars from transportation funding for a memorial and the road might be where it went.

I’ve actually got higher hopes for Detroit than I do for most American cities.

While Detroit has found rock bottom and been forced into a semblance of responsibility, much larger cities are still going full speed ahead into their black holes of debt.
