Ukip are set to win their first Commons seat with a landslide 64 per cent of the vote following the biggest swing in modern political history. Turncoat MP Douglas Carswell is set to humiliate David Cameron at the Clacton by-election sparked by his defection, a Survation poll for The Mail on Sunday has revealed. The figures – the first test of public opinion since the politician rocked Westminster by defecting to Nigel Farage’s party – predict a record 48 point swing towards Ukip.

I remember someone saying that Western countries have a political pendulum, swinging between liberal and conservative sides. Europe and the U.S. aren’t always in sync, but they sometimes are.
In the 1980s, Reagan and Thatcher reined.
The late 1990s/early 2000s saw Bush and Blair.
Then the EU went far left, and so did we.
I hope the strong right movement in the EU bodes well for a resurgence here, as well.

Reagan and Thatcher. What an historic team! The best!

Isn’t there also a plank in the platform about building a lot more jails, and filling them. That is, imprisoning a lot more criminals instead of letting them out on supervised release of one sort or another?

One of the reasons Perot said he ran for president was to “save the Democratic Party.” Remember, after Reagan, liberals were ashamed to call themselves liberals.

I don’t remember Perot saying that. But I do remember Bush saying
“Read my lips, no new taxes”.
And tax, he did
And a one term-er he was.

I am so sick of people like you and your selective hate. It is a well known fact that Perot hates the Bush family...remember Perot's daughter's wedding? Perot would have run against Bush regardless. Perot wanted Papa Bush ousted from the Presidency and it was a personal vendetta.

Perot succeeded in his quest and threw the presidency to Clinton.

But that's OK because Clinton's presidency paved the way for George W. Funny how karma works.

He did. Perot actually declared his candidacy, then withdrew...and then declared again. I remember the “You people” incident with the Blacks, and then Perot’s accusation the George HW Bush ruined Perot’s daughter’s wedding.

If I read things correctly, this was a “poll.” (An opinion poll) . When does the actual election take place?

Don’t forget Pakistani Rape Gangs.

In the mind of the average liberal, this is just a fair manifestation of The Great God Cultural Diversity.

But to the average voter, enough is f*ing enough.

The British should get rid of all their Moslems.

Islam must be destroyed.

Bush The Elder was a one term-er. That is a fact.
Bush raised taxes. That is a fact.
I’m so sick of people like you, Rove’s RINO’s, as well!

Another thing Dave.

You provide a motivation to why Perot ran.

But offer no reason why Perot got 20% of the American vote.

I provided that reason “Read my lips, NO new taxes”
Tax he did. A one term-er he was.

Donald Rumsfeld September 5, 2012:

He added, “Throughout our history, when things got bad, good people changed their priorities, got out of their chairs and did more than they were doing previously. They were energized by their concern…If there’s ever been a time in my 80 years where good people needed to get out of their chairs and push that pendulum back, this is it. And it is particularly important for the coming generations that we do not leave them a country where youngsters coming along will have to look forward to a future that was not as bright and not as optimistic as it has been for each of us in this room.”

Tory MP Douglas Carswell has pulled a Phil Graham, party switch to UKIP and he resigned to run again under the UKIP banner in a by-election (special election). The first polling suggests he’s gonna win huge.

Honorable I guess, but a waste of money. On the other hand, actually winning a parliamentary seat, as opposed to just having one (which I think they have before when a Tory switched) would be a boon to the party.

Fun fact, MPs are not at liberty to resign, in order for them to get out of office a legal fiction must be employed, resigning MPs are appointed to sinecure Crown offices, which disqualify them from serving in Parliament.
