The Reformation of Manners (Mark Steyn on Rotherham)
Steyn Online ^ | August 29, 2014 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 08/30/2014 2:35:40 PM PDT by beaversmom

On Friday I appeared on Michael Graham's radio show to discuss, among other things, the appalling revelations from Rotherham, a drab town in South Yorkshire in which over the course of a decade and a half some 1,400 girls (as young as 11) were "groomed", drugged, raped, traded and, occasionally, doused in petrol and threatened with being set alight. All the while, the entire apparatus of the state, from the political class to the police to the "child protection" agencies, looked the other way - for fear of appearing "racist" or "Islamophobic". The BBC describes the predators' actions as "brazen", which it certainly was. They would turn up at children's homes, select the ones they wanted, and drive off with them:

The carer, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed staff were reluctant to intervene in some cases for fear of being classed as "racist".

So the individuals who presided over this regime destroyed the lives of 1,400 people in their care, and have paid no price for it. Indeed, some have been promoted, and put in charge of even more children: Sonia Sharp, who was head of child services in Rotherham, is now in an equivalent position Down Under for the entire state of Victoria.

Meantime, the fear of being perceived as "racist" prevails even in the news stories about how terrible it is that nobody did anything. As James Delingpole explains, if you have to get specific about the perpetrators, the preferred euphemism is "Asian", a word that in Fleet Street doesn't mean Chinese or oriental but persons deriving from the Indian sub-continent. This is, apart from anything else, grossly unfair to Hindus. The men who raped and tortured these girls were, in Rotherham as elsewhere, mostly Muslims of Pakistani and Bangladeshi origin. And their victims were not.

I stand firm on this belief.
Islam is an evil death cult that can NEVER coexist along side of civilized peoples. Islam thrives through fear oppression torture and murder.
Even here in the U.s> when I state this belief far too many people think me an extremist, a racist, a bigot, etc. Somehow my recognition that beheaded people, oppressing women, abusing children, killing Christians and Jews and also killing muslims that do not tow the party line is the wrong thing and not those action of islam. For this reasom America, may suffer greatly in the years to come.

This is so good. But even among conservatives, Steyn is not winning. The winner, sadly, is a guy named Jason Lee Steorts.

There are always going to be the ostriches, but I just saw a post on FB by a lady who is not political at all regarding Islam. And my Euro cousin who likes to concentrate on the pleasures in life...not faulting her for that...just sent me a very good essay that someone had sent her. I’ll post here. Maybe it’s too late, but more people, I think, are waking up.

Well, Mark, I love you dearly, so you have to make up your mind where you want to live. You have left Britain, Canada and have made remarks about America that have left me wondering where you are going next - you mentioned Denmark and Australia, I believe, in one column. You can run but you cannot hide. As I said, I think you are an amazing man but Rush is not going anywhere soon but how ‘bout you?

Here’s that essay my cousin forwarded to me:

A German’s View on Islam - worth reading. This is one of the best explanations of the Muslim terrorist situation I have ever read. His references to past history are accurate and clear. Not long, easy to understand, and well worth the read. The author of this email is Dr. Emanuel Tanya, a well-known and well-respected psychiatrist. A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

‘Very few people were true Nazis,’ he said, ‘but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come.’

‘My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.’

‘We are told again and again by ‘experts’ and ‘talking heads’ that Islam is a religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.’

‘The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.’

‘The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the ‘silent majority,’ is cowed and extraneous. Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China ‘s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.’

‘The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery? Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were ‘peace loving’?

‘History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.’

‘Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.’

‘Now Islamic prayers have been introduced in Toronto and other public schools in Ontario , and, yes, in Ottawa , too, while the Lord’s Prayer was removed (due to being so offensive?). The Islamic way may be peaceful for the time being in our country until the fanatics move in.’

‘In Australia , and indeed in many countries around the world, many of the most commonly consumed food items have the halal emblem on them. Just look at the back of some of the most popular chocolate bars, and at other food items in your local supermarket. Food on aircraft have the halal emblem just to appease the privileged minority who are now rapidly expanding within the nation’s shores.’

‘In the U.K, the Muslim communities refuse to integrate and there are now dozens of “no-go” zones within major cities across the country that the police force dare not intrude upon. Sharia law prevails there, because the Muslim community in those areas refuse to acknowledge British law.’

‘As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts - the fanatics who threaten our way of life.’

Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand.

Extend yourself a bit and send this on. Let us hope that thousands world-wide read this, think about it, and send it on before it’s too late, and we are silenced because we were silent!!!

=

When a people become too civilized to do what's necessary to survive in an uncivilized world, they won't survive, nor do they deserve to survive.

“In an ill advised choice of words, the Prime Minister David Cameron said, “We need to tackle the ideology of Islamist extremism head on” - because trying to do it with your head off doesn’t seem to be working out for those poor fellows in Mosul.”

I didn't originate this but I certainly repeat it as often as I can:

Radical Muslims are the snakes. Moderate Muslims are the grass.

Good post. I just finished a book on the rise of the Nazis. We’re definitely living in a deja vu.

Ping me when you post them.

We have similar and widespread child rape, forced prostitution and other sexual crime issues in the USA.

And also similar inexcusable government inaction.
Along with open facilitators such as Planned Parenthood, pornographers and the covert supporters/enablers who don’t want to acknowledge such ugly crimes, lest they be forced to judge such things evil, and act.

Steyn is right of course, but America is nearly disarmed. Oh, we have plenty of weaponry to destroy ISIS, but without the will to do what is right, what good are weapons? You can’t fight something—an ideology that believes in its divine right to rule the world—with nothing.

Does anyone believe the humanist religions of multiculturalism and diversity are up to the task of taking on Islam? I sure don’t. What exactly does America even stand for anymore? The pursuit of pleasure above all else? Seriously. If all cultures and ideologies are equal, then nothing is uniquely valuable and worth preserving, i.e. fighting for!

What if we still had some national pride left? If most still believed America was the best nation ever created (as we once believed), maybe we would fight to preserve it. Too bad our present leaders despise America. Doubt me? One doesn’t want to fundamentally transform those things one loves. They don’t want to elevate America. They seek to diminish it as just another member of a much larger, one world bureaucracy.

I don’t mean in any way to disparage those Americans who have fought and died for the country. It’s clear that some of us still believe in the American ideals enshrined in our constitution, but we clearly don’t hold much power over our government, schools, and media. The feckless ones, liberals, are perhaps an even greater enemy than the likes of ISIS, because liberals disarm us from within.

This will continue until the koranimals see members of the Vlad Tapes society hoisting a few dozen (or a few hundred) of their brethren onto the poles in Trafalgar Square.

I didn't have a chance to read all of this yesterday, but wanted to get it posted. Powerful conclusion by Steyn:

"That leaves Wilberforce's "reformation of manners" - on a scale he never contemplated, and with a self-segregating community extremely resistant to outside influence. Meanwhile, leaders such as David Cameron keep hoping that somehow all these excitable young men with their surplus energies will embrace "British values", without ever being able to say what these "British values" are, other than the stuff Yorkshire schools teach as the source of all the evils in the world - imperialism, racism, colonialism, etc. And even as we dither, in Rotherham and elsewhere, Islam is already reforming our manners. As I wrote the other day, slowly, remorselessly, we are becoming them."
