More Than 134,000 Petition Obama Admin. to Demand Release of Sgt. Tahmooressi — Here’s the Response

More than 134,000 people signed a petition asking the Obama administration to demand the release of U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi from a Mexican prison. Tahmooressi, who is reportedly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, has been imprisoned for nearly five months after being arrested for unintentionally crossing into Mexico with firearms.

The White House responded to the popular petition on Friday, calling for Mexican authorities to handle the Marine’s case “expeditiously” rather than demanding his release.

I’d agree with that assessment. Guns etc. are illegal and thus you’ll get severe penalties.
A friend of mine knew a man that was caught with multiple rounds of ammunition after
crossing the border to go to dinner one night. He spent some 6 months before finally
getting released. It takes time but I suspect Tahmooressi will be getting out before
too much longer. At least I hope that is so.

I live 60 miles from the border. We went across the border about 5 years ago for a few hours, and decided to never go again. It is a pity. When I was a kid, visiting Mexico was a fun thing to do. Now? Dirty, the streets smelled of urine, and nothing to do with my family.

It is what Obama wants the entire USA to become...

Went to Mexico in 1991. Walked across at San Ysidro on a trip to San Diego, just to say I was in Meh-i-co.

What a hellhole on the other side of the border.

I lasted 15 minutes. Told my wife we are out of here and walked back to the border station. When I got through to the US, I was never so happy in my life.

Guess things have not changed.
