Featherman: 'Vacationistas' need to go home
Philly.com ^

Posted on 08/28/2014 10:26:59 AM PDT by Phillyred

I’m no fan of President Obama.

I didn’t vote for him the first time or the last time.

I’ve publicly condemned Obamacare as well as what I believe are Obama’s failed economic and foreign policies.

That does not give me, you or anyone else the right to trash him or his family. Nor does it give us the right to tell outright lies.

MORE COVERAGE Did Bush or Obama take more vacation? Unfortunately, that’s exactly what has been going on, especially over the past few weeks. Disgusting cheap shots have been taken at both the President and the First Lady.

Starting with President Obama, his detractors – some of whom are fringe theorists “birthers” – have attacked him – falsely and quite ignorantly – of taking more vacation time than his last three two-term predecessors. In a report released over the weekend by the Associated Press, Obama had taken 138 vacation days, compared to 381 for George W. Bush, 174 for Bill Clinton and 349 for Ronald Reagan – all calculated at the same point in their second term. Even adding all of Obama’s and Clinton’s vacation days to date is less than the total spent by either Bush or Reagan.

Yet, the glaring truth hasn’t prevented local Obama critics from going to social media to criticize Obama on this issue – ranging from sarcastic memes to false claims that Obama missed attending a murdered US general’s funeral for a round of golf.

No one has the right to criticize the affirmative action Hitler. What's the matter with you, kamraden?

He’s got a point. Same goes for making fun of his wife’s figure or calling her “Moo-chelle”. The issues are not enough. It has to be personal and childish.

So we lower ourselves to the level of the left and make ourselves smaller while doing little to persuade the public.

Agreed. It would be interesting and informative to see the details that went into the AP report, showing twice as many vacation days for GW, compared to both O and Clinton. I suspect fraudulent reporting on AP’s part.

John Featherman is a real estate broker in Philadelphia.

He does business out of an office on Rittenhouse Square, which is the location of some of the fanciest dwellings and offices in Center City.

I suspect his office may also be his home.

I’m not one of them, I wish Obama took even MORE vacations. He does less damage that way.

Obama had taken 138 vacation days

Officially. But just because he's technically "on the clock" doesn't mean he isn't goofing off" at golf, basketball, snuggle sessions with Reggie, parties, or fundraisers.

But I do agree it's irrelevant. With Obama's sheer incompetence and/or intentional doing of harm to US interests, the amount of time he actually spends "working" doesn't really matter much.

He says he didn’t vote for Obama twice. Who was the communist candidate write-in he used?

Guess what. Jimmy Carter hardly went on vacation as President.

And he still sucked.

Vacations are a legitimate issue because the Middle East *and* Eastern Europe are literally exploding while Osama Obama is practicing his chip shot.

If I'm not mistaken, Bush never spent his time on the golf course in Mahthas Vineyard, or a posh retreat in Hawaii with a whole slew of relatives but rather at his personally owned Crawford ranch.....

I guess they count different for Pubs than Dems. If a Dem spends even 1 minute of a vacation talking about anything to do withthe office, the entire day (week? month?) is taken off the vacation toll.

If a pub takes even a 1/2 hour off, it counts as a full day of vacation.

The pig doesn’t go far from the trough.

Bush worked a lot out of his home at the Crawford ranch. Obama actually goes to vacation spots. There’s a difference. Bush’s 407 number includes 381 days at the Crawford ranch, which is nobody’s idea of a vacation spot. Remove the Crawford ranch number, and Bush’s count goes down to 26, all of which were spent at Kennebunkport which, again, is just the Bush family home, rather than another genuine vacation spot.
