Why stop there? Make it $50 or $100 and then sit back and see what happens.
True but if the owners cannot earn a competitive rate of return on their investments or incur net loss, the value of the business falls. The new owners pay $.30 to $.50 on the dollar maybe less and can now afford higher wages.
Of course don’t expect large new hotels to be built unless heavily subsidized by some level of government.
Correct. Hotels can’t leave and the victims of the pass through tax will be out of towners
And there you have it in black and white. The MW increase has NEVER been about helping the working poor. Most union contracts are tied to the MW; so a $7+ raise in the minimum wage is a raise for the union worker - And THAT is the objective: capture and compel the union vote.
Never mind that inflation will eat up most of the wage increase - North Dakota anyone??!!
Truer words were never said.
Damn Democrats!
i don’t know what the prostitutes are gonna do.soon they will have to raise their rates to compete with those making minimum wage.
I wouldn’t think that it would be Constitutional for the maggots in the government to tell employers how much they have to pay their employees. If someone doesn’t like how much they are being paid, they need to go find a new job. It’s not rocket science.
The kiosk manufacturers are lobbying hard for a higher minimum wage.
Repeal the minimum wage and anyone who wants a job will have one.
Of course, the unions would never allow it.
You made my point. The Hotels can’t pack up and leave. The former
owners can pack up and leave. And new owners can take over. But the
physical building ain’t going nowhere. And the point made by another
freeper is true, as well. Those increased costs will be passed on to non-resident guest who are just passing through.
Well it will drive anyone who has the means to travel to make their purchases in a friendlier retail environment. Will see what happens with tax intake afterwards as well as the blowback when minimum wage earners realize that their spending power has actually shrunk.
13.25 is not enough, they must make $48.67.
Minimum wage of $100/hour...why not that? I think I’ll start a moving van company outside of LA’s city limils. If it happens businesses will be moving...
world-class city? Anyone look at downtown Los Angeles! It does have a 3rd world look to it.
My company is now hiring people for only 29/hrs a week when they can because of obamacare. Thousands have been fired in past years and more to come. Company had 195,000 at one time.
Oh, that’ll work. /s
Makers of self-service kiosks are going to make a killing there.
I’ll see your bet and raise you a hundred to $200 an hour, and I will raise my own bet to $400 an hour! Wait, I don’t have any money left. Can you loan me the bet?
Come on. Y’all know America is gone.
No, just tell the givme’things (government) that you are a victim of the Tea Party.
