Rotherham sex abuse scandal: we cannot ignore that race played a part in these crimes
The Telegraph ^ | August 27, 2014 | Dan Hodges

Posted on 08/27/2014 12:33:19 PM PDT by Sherman Logan

The abuse experienced by the children of Rotherham is beyond belief. Sexual abuse. Physical abuse. Psychological abuse. It is all laid out in brutal detail in the report by Alexis Jay.

But one equally vicious aspect of the assaults on these children is identified in a less explicit way. And that is the manner in which the vast majority of the Rotherham victims were also racially abused.

So, white people were protecting “minorities” so that they could continue raping white girls. Fathers were willing to sit by silently while their daughters were being raped out of fear of being called racists.

Why do people live in fear of being called a “racist?”

He's right.
Let the perpetrators feel the shame, don't try to protect them in the name of PC.
Hiding racism when it's real and fanning the flames of racism when it's not, both are examples of blatant racism, deception and manipulation.

From the article:

Those who tried to cover up the racial aspect of these crimes did so because they feared giving “oxygen” to racists. But what kind of perversion is that? You counter racism by covering up racism?

For those who endured the abuse, the racial origin of their attacker will seem irrelevant.

While I agree with his condemnation of the reverse racism in this situation, I disagree most vehemently with his conclusion that the race of the perpetrators is -- or by the laws of PC, should be -- irrelevant to the victims.

I haven't read the full report, but it seems only logical that many of these victims would have become pregnant. The reporter seems to take for granted that they could simply have an abortion and that would be the end of it. What of the victims who chose not to kill their babies?

It is just cruel to suggest that because a nation wants to eliminate institutional racism such as access to jobs or housing, that a young girl whose virginity and innocence are taken should suffer no more from having a rapists' child whose father is of a wholly different religion and culture, and that the child's appearance would not mark her life forever, requiring deep adjustments in her family of origin and prospects for a future family.

It's no more racist for a white person to be free to prefer another white person in the sexual arena than it is for a person of color to prefer someone of similar background in that area of their life. It's racist to suggest otherwise.

This is just one of many reasons why a free society requires that we defend our God-given right to keep and bear arms. A father whose daughter is being molested should have another recourse if government refuses to defend the innocent.

In the U.S., we can be shamed on Facebook or even lose a job from saying racial remarks, even unintentional ones. But in UK, they can be locked up for ostensible racist or anti-gay remarks.

I think you're being very unfair to the author, who seems to be a rare "honest lefty.

For those who endured the abuse, the racial origin of their attacker will seem irrelevant.

Here you disagree. But I think you're missing that in the very next sentence he disagrees himself.

But as we’ve seen, it wasn’t irrelevant because it was their racial origin that contributed to the abuse continuing unchecked for so long. That’s why we must never again allow a situation to develop where racism is allowed to flourish simply because it challenges our conventional belief of what racism is.

The children of Rotherham were abused racially, as well as sexually, physically and psychologically. We don’t just have a right to say that, we have an obligation.

This conclusion is highly un-PC and I was quite surprised to see it in The Telegraph.

“The 2011 census in Rotherham showed that 3.1 per cent of the population of the Borough were of Pakistani or Kashmiri ethnicity. Yet as Jay states, “In Rotherham, the majority of known perpetrators were of Pakistani heritage including the five men convicted in 2010.”

“The file reading carried out by the Inquiry also confirmed that the ethnic origin of many perpetrators was ‘Asian’.” This is despite the fact that, as Jay underlines, the perpetrators of crimes of this nature normally select victims of the same ethnic origin. In Rotherham the opposite occurred. Pakistani men targeted white girls so that they could rape them”

The whole world has gone insane over racism which is the worst thing one can be. Saying a certain word means you are worse than a murderer.

I am sitting here watching Adam-12 and they just showed a Liberty Mutual ad, guess what? The guy is Black. Next comes a progel commercial and the first thing I see is a Black girl.

Just a few minutes before on another channel I saw a Black guy shilling for the good hands people.

Blacks are treated like they are some kind of wonderful heroic, perfect, God who despite being perfect in every way have been treated so terribly that we owe them trillions in reparations.

Well I have to admit, Officers Reed and Malloy are both White.

This article explains almost nothing!
Who are these girls? How many are there?
Who are the men? Why are they there?
How exactly are they coming in contact -- on the street, playground, in school, somewhere else?

What really was going on here, and who was failing their responsibilities?

Why is there no basic reporting going on?

This article links to the report where it is spelled out. 1400 children abused.

I hear you; but his main concern with the racism seems merely that fears of racism served as cover for the rapists, not that the girls would suffer any additional personal consequence of involuntarily having a baby of a different heritage.

Ask Donald Sterling.

What is interesting is that it is white people who are punishing Sterling for being racist.

I suspect because it’s been big news in UK and everybody knows the basic story over there. The author wasn’t reporting, he was writing an opinion column on a well-known story.

Here’s some background.

Of course. They don't want to be called "racist". They don't want to be SEEN to be anything less than virulent against racism.

"My anti-racism is stronger that your anti-racism", so you must be a racist."
