Obamacare Now Covers Gender Reasignment Surgeries

Transgender Americans seeking gender reassignment surgeries are finding relief through Obamacare, The Daily Beast reported on Monday.

Federal laws banning health insurance discrimination against transgender people, combined with Obamacare's ban on denying coverage for those with pre-existing conditions, have paved a path for transgender patients who wish to make the transition from one gender to another. "The federal anti-discrimination regulations have yet to be written, but California insurance regulators have said that companies must treat transgender patients the same as other patients," reports The Daily Beast. "For example, if plans cover hormones for post-menopausal women, they must also cover them for transgender women. Medicare, the program for the elderly and disabled, lifted its ban on covering sex reassignment surgery earlier this year."

What gets covered varies from Obamacare policy to policy. But Transgender Law Center program administrator Anand Kalra says, "The law and policy are on a transgender person's side for the first time."

Nationally, Obamacare is more unpopular than ever. The latest Kaiser Health poll finds that an all-time low of just 37% of Americans now support President Barack Obama's signature legislative achievement

Gender Reassignment is a misnomer. Gender can NOT be re-assigned. Nature assigns gender. As stated by retired head of Johns Hopkins Psychiatry, the “transgender” condition is a condition of mental illness that would be further enabled by any surgery. Which is why John’s Hopkins no longer does any kind of sex change surgery. They required extensive psychiatric examination to determine a medical condition that would justify it.

This physician calls gender re-assignment just that— enabling the continuation of a diagnosable mental illness, and also, since the surgery does not change how a person
“feels”, the surgery is said to just masculinize a female, or feminize a male. That’s all.

Would like to see the hoops required to go through in obamaumaocare to get this done— maybe it’s a superhighway.
No one has the bravery of this former Director/Head of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins. Because you see.... it’s another “right”.

SoCal Freepers, this is why Bill Handel of KFI AM640 morning radio in Los Angeles swung left (pro-'Rat, pro-Obama) several years ago.

Handel has this same-sex couple, surrogate-parenting legal service, called the Center for Surrogate Parenting in Los Angeles.

As a libertarian, surrogate parenting is fine with me.

But Bill Handel I think saw the massive subsidies (corporate welfare, bailouts) = $ money for himself from taxpayers by siding with the interventionist Rat Dems, early on.

That's when I stopped listening to Handel's show.

Rent seeking a-hole.
