Signally that the border is wide open will only serve to turn a flood into a tsunami – overloading an already over burdened social welfare system to the breaking point. This will also make it impossible to stop people carrying all manner of diseases from entering the country. Not to mention that Terrorists could bring in what ever they need to kill millions of the citizens you swore to protect.
Now of course the smart thing to do would be to keep out the terrorists, disease and looters, not to mention fulfilling your oath of office.
There would be a lot of repealing of stupid laws and Executive orders, a ton of firings and prison sentences.
The borders would be guarded heavily and most people sent back from where they came.
Welfare would be really reformed and only those truly in need would be covered. A system to help people in need of short term assistance would be created. Make it easier to have the churches help people again.
The military would be reformed including pay and benefits where needed.
And lets just say I will be like my ancestor Charles “the Hammer” Martel while dealing with Islam and other enemies of freedom.
In other words – stop the illegal invasion.
Obama wants to do the opposite and in fact make it worse – much, much worse… What does that say about him?
Such an idea is so monstrous they can’t wrap their minds around it – add to it that those who support the man are accomplices in that destruction…
One way to at least get them to think about their support of the Destructor is to ask them to pose an alternative reasoning for his actions – they won’t be able to do this.
Thus they won’t admit to you that you’ve made them doubt their allegiance to his hopechangeness, you will have at least made them think on the subject.
Yes, I’ve heard the expression that a country without a border is like a body without skin – it cannot exist.
A fence defines the border without anyone needing to be there.

Still, if I could change a single thing, I’d go along with Thomas Jefferson’s lament that if he could go back and change a single thing in the U.S. Constitution, he would have prohibited the Federal government from borrowing money.
If you think about it, if the Federal government could spend only the amount that they collect in taxes, it would in fact solve all of the evils of the Federal government we face today.
Seal the border. Deport all illegals. Cut off all aid to muzzie sh*r holes. Stop all immigration of muzzies. Undo every single thing Obongo has done for starters.

You second point is well taken – that would seem to be the point at which we went off the rails.
Oh, they’d be able to offer an alternative - it would involve something like “I’m sure he intends well, because _I_ intend well, and I support him.”
Of course, that veers into the realm of “incompetence”, and they don’t want to go there either, because that would be racist.
Oh, and another thing I use as an argument:

In my experience, that question just makes sheeperals mad.
We knew in the spring of 2008 that he was a dirtbag.
First: clean up DC. Give white hut, supremes and congress walking papers. Probably imprison a lot of them for treason. Stop all freebies, foreign and domestic. Divorce the UN. Stop relations with the Federal Reserve. Dissolve the EPA, DHS, FEMA, BATF and all their cousins.
I would say to them:
The truth may set you free eventually, but first it’s going to tick you off.
