When does a moment become a movement?
Events such as the killing of unarmed, 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., can provide the moral shock that political movements need to build their ranks and bring attention to a community’s afflictions. They can be like the murder of 14-year-old Emmett Till in 1955 or the beating death of Matthew Shepard in 1998 — transformative episodes that remake perceptions and force a society to abandon abhorrent practices.
Or they can be like the 1991 beating of Rodney King by Los Angeles police officers: a horrific moment that failed to create a sustained push for broader, nationwide reforms of policing practices.
For black Americans, the outrage against the police that we’re seeing in Ferguson has appeared in roughly 10-year intervals — from the 1979 beating death of Arthur McDuffie by police, which sparked protest and violence in Miami; to the attack on King, which led to more than 50 deaths and several days of unrest in Los Angeles; to the 2001 shooting death of 19-year-old Timothy Thomas in Cincinnati, which also erupted in protest and rioting and produced a costly economic boycott against the city.
So perhaps America was due for another bout of unrest. But will Ferguson recede in the coming days and weeks, becoming the scene of just another tragic slaying that didn’t lead to meaningful change in police conduct toward black or brown communities? Will history remember Michael Brown less like Emmett Till and more like Rodney King?
I’m optimistic that Ferguson can lead to real change. The church rallies, street demonstrations, marches, looting and targeted violence against police are familiar responses. But there are four key differences in what is unfolding in Ferguson: first, the cumulative effect of recent cases of police misconduct against black people across the nation....

The Left needs this all to come crashing down. They want violence. Ideally, white Conservatives rise up, "start trouble" and allow Obama to really start The Big Change.
Of course, whites have outraged Obama by our extraordinary patience. We haven't revolted and it really annoys him. Plan B is simple - get the Black folks to rise up and demand "justice". With any luck, this will precipitate horrendous violence and allow Obama to really start The Big Change.
Looks like Ferguson didn't get the job done. But don't worry -- the Left will find another venue soon enough.
Here’s a clue, would-be revolutionaries: maybe you want a revolution for the sake of having a revolution, but there is in fact nothing to revolt over.
Worst kind of revolution is one for its own sake.
The revolution has already happened. it occurred November 4, 2008. Very few noticed and even fewer cared.
Thursday was the National Day of RAGE! It seemed to have come an gone without incident. Yawn.

I am lucky enough (or unfortunate enough) to have lived through the Norman Rockwell years of America and with each passing year watched our liberties and freedoms vaporize through this horrible disease called racial equality foisted upon us by LBJ in 1964.
This disease is pure Marxism in disguise and the “sheep” of America think that it’s the utopian path to equality for everyone.
I’ve had enough of it and have noticed that this forum (FR) has refrained from voicing the members true opinions until now about what they are really thinking.
I believe in the fact that everyone has an equal chance of getting ahead...not that everyone is equal...the equality is in the chance to improve one’s position in life and the chance to fail if they don’t.
The entire world is comprised of only two classes of people: The “makers” and the “takers.” In America the “takers” now rule.
It continues to disgust me that taxpayers pay the salaries of these affirmative-action racists. This “professor” is so full of BS. I bet his dissertation was a real winner...read only by him. Anyone who sends their child to Columbia to be “taught” by the likes of him is a fool.

Answer: The minute the grand jury finds that the officer was justified in shooting “Big Mike”. Then all hell will break loose and my prediction will be far worse than the Rodney King riots.
The blacks have been encouraged by odumbo and holder’s lack of effort to quell race differences in this country and are looking for any excuse to get it started “big time”. The stupid game of “knock out”, random attacks on whites, etc. are good examples and nothing is being said or done to stop them. IT IS COMING and will not be good. For those who live in the major cities with large populations of blacks, best be ready!
You are right. How come? During the OJ trial all of my black friends knew he was guilty. Probably the same this time. Think about it, who is doing the yelling? Not the majority.
This Ferguson mess is no different from the Trayvon Martin/Zimmerman case here in Florida. Liberals always jump to conclusions before the facts are established. And more times than not, it is the wrong conclusion. The race baiters and race hustlers overshot their mark and pressured the “I-want-my-15-minutes-of-fame” district attorney in Florida to charge Zimmerman too early and with charges that couldn’t be proven with the evidence at the time, 2nd degree murder. Then when the actual trial came around and the jury found Zimmerman not guilty, liberal heads on TV exploded and the blacks made some noise for a while. but one hasn’t heard much of that case since.
The same will happen here, except I don’t think this experienced Ferguson DA will over charge if the cop is indicted and I think he will wait until the evidence is sufficient enough to charge him. Some of the anger and wind will be out of the protestors’ sails by October when the indictment is predicted to come, if at all. I personally think the jury pool has been poisoned by none other than the democRAT governor Nixon, stating that the cop needs to be “prosecuted vigorously”, before the investigation is even done, or he has been charged or arrested. I think it will be an uphill battle to prove this cop “murdered” this thug. Unless the prosecutor has evidence that the policeman intended to murder the black kid, a jury will exonerate him. Especially if evidence the kid beat on the cop and tried to take his gun from him turns out to be true. I also read the cop believes the kid was high on something (besides pot). That could explain his aggressive behavior towards the cop. This one will take some time to sort through but that won’t satisfy the “we want justice NOW” crowd.
I am not concerned in the least that people who believe “You didn’t build that”, and who for several generations have not managed to build a single, decent working community, are going to build a “Movement” that is anything other than a mob.
