Paul Ryan airs frustrations with GOP in new book (that no one is buying!)
CBS News ^ | 8/19/14 | JOSHUA ROBERTS

As Congress hurtled toward a government shutdown in the fall of 2013, Rep. Paul Ryan looked around at fellow Republicans who were agitating to shutter national parks, federal agencies and Head Start programs.

"This can't be the full measure of our party and our movement," Ryan writes of that moment in his new book, released Tuesday. "If it is, we're dead and the country is lost."

Such moments of raw frustration pepper Ryan's "The Way Forward: Renewing the American Idea," a book as much about his front-row seat as Republicans' favorite budget wonk as it is about his political future. Ryan is considered a contender for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.

Scarborough wrote the same kind of book and it flopped just as hard.

It’s a race to the bottom of Amazon.

Ronald Reagan. Abortion and the Conscience of a Nation. 1981.

Unfortunately, Reagan didn't follow up with action. On the plane, on January 22, 1989, with Washington still visible below, he was asked by a well-known conservative writer if he had any regrets. He said he regretted that he hadn't put more effort into ending abortion.

As it was, under Reagan, the only pro-lifers the government went after were the clinic bombers.

Paul Ryan looked around at fellow Republicans who were agitating to shutter national parks . . . .

Hey, A-hole, no one was agitating to shutter national parks. No one. The Dems did it as a strategy to make the Republicans look bad. If Ryan does not understand that, he's a complete F-ing idiot.

THIS THIS THIS THIS. Now, we have our "own side" (Yes, I'm laughing) saying this bullsh*t?!?!

Unbelievable. Yet, not really.

............

What a load of BS. The shutdowns were done according to Obama’s priorities and his desire for political gain. Is Ryan saying this or is it CBS?

#127 out of tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, of titles? Oh yeah, bigtime failure.
Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...
