The best way to fight this kind of sex ed is to show parents the pictures.

That is why the educators are usually so secretive about the material. They don't want to deal with parental wrath.

So, if you are having to fight the program get a hold of the textbooks and plan on spending time at the copy store. Make up some official looking notebooks and pass them around without giving your opinion.

Believe me the parents will get riled up and will take it to the mats.

“Welcome to Liberal-land! Trying to mentor young minds that this type of life style is ok...& setting them up for pedophiles!

..and they will continue to push this to lower grades and even younger minds...

Keep in mind that these same schools admit that their “zero tolerance” rules about guns is because they understand that the intent is to create a culture of fear of guns, hoping that this will ensure the kids will never want to have a gun in their posession.

Now, after those admissions, I have to wonder why they are so adamant about the sexualisation of children...

My Dad, a former professor and then practicing engineer, ran for school board in our small and ignorant town. He lost. The administration and teachers rallied against him. They were afraid of him and that he would institute tougher standards in education and allocate more for real education programs instead of sports.

I laugh to think of it all today. Dumb jocks that could barely string a sentence together set on pedestals and made principals of schools and superintendents of the school system because the city “leaders” were so proud of the football team and all it had done for the town. To suggest they touched and molded young lives in good ways is ridiculous. I see them now when I go home. They run lawn services or convenience stores on the side. Still dumb jocks. Still good ‘ol boys. Still there, big fish in a mud hole but still fawned over by the ignorant toadies of the town. Schools have huge influence over their locales and more so the smaller the town. From my home town I coined the idea that the attitude of the staff or population is a reflection of the attitude of their leaders. Like begat like and perpetuates it.

My siblings and I survived our “education” because of our parents and went on to Universities and Medical Schools. It was tough sledding for a year or so until we learned how to learn but we all managed it.

Some might ask why we were there if we hated it so much. Because we had no idea how bad it really was when we moved there for a good job outside the town. We lived on a small farm outside of town or it would have been worse. Dad did not owe his job to anyone in the town or it would have been horrible. They couldn’t control us but they could make us miserable if we let them. School was not dreadful every day, all the time but I had good reason to reflect upon the idea that you may chain my body but my mind is free!

It’s not appropriate for anyone much less college students or high school students. This is hard core porn.

I’m sure the viewing of the content would be banned from all media. It may even be too intense for X rating.

makes you wonder if all the old porn from Times Square and 14th Street in D. C. wound up in public schools.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

My husband is a teacher & coach in a small town and I see that here. We home-school our children for a variety of reasons, but the older boys are involved in sports. The first time I dropped them off after school for practice I was amazed at how many activities there were after school. From kindergarten & up there were groups of people everywhere. It is though the school is the heart of the community, almost the church. There are 2 churches in town and neither of them ever see the participation rate that I see in the school Monday through Friday. Sadly, a government institution is the pride and joy of the town.

Sports are a very big deal here as well and when a new press box and storage building were being built for the football field the hours of volunteer labor just amazed me. All I could think of was how hard it was for our church to get people to volunteer for the basement renovation and yet carpenters, contractors, concrete business owners gave hours and hours to the athletic field project.

I am proud of my husband because I think he is one of those rare coaches who really isn't all about winning. His goal is to teach these boys how to work hard and be men of character. Both those goals are getting tougher as kids are more and more spoiled and/or lazy and are growing up with little training regarding integrity, honesty and respect. He is seen as an old school kind of coach and the guys tease him about it, but he has many who remain friends with us long after high school. Not all jocks are dumb ;), a friend of mine from high school is an engineer with NASA and several of my husband's former athletes have graduated from college with high honors in a rigorous course of study. Maybe its just wrestlers, though, I can't think of many of his football players who do that! We have seen that the kids for whom athletic ability comes naturally and never have to really work to succeed in sports don't learn to work hard at anything else either. Others who want to do well have to work their tails off (my sons are like that!) and the work ethic tends to carry over to all other areas of life, including academics.

Your high school sounds worse than mine, my degree is in biology and I remember wondering why other kids found the freshman college classes so hard. I must have had a better foundation because I already had learned how to learn before college. Maybe it was because most of our teachers were older...not into the “new and improved” ways to teach kids. It was work balancing a job, academics and athletics in college, but it was good for me, too.
