I started counting out loud to 10 - but somehow my carbine barked off 4 quick shots.

A resident dealing with a break-in in the middle of the night? An armed civilian dealing with an attack?
Or two trained cops armed to the teeth in broad daylight with time, position, backup and authority on their side?
Situational awareness and conditional responsibility are the BIGGEST aspects of using a gun. Starting with: you don’t shoot if you don’t have to shoot.
Good thing your carbine fired on its own, otherwise you'd be responsible for murdering two people in a muddy ditch. Because that's what you're saying, right? Otherwise, you fired four times and missed with every shot and are blaming your weapon.
