This is a question directed at someone with an historical knowledge of the time.

The article states, “It’s true that this is not the anti-Semitism of the 1930s, which came from the right and was rooted in longstanding Christian views that demonized the Jews.”

Is that true? Your comments are appreciated.

He had me until I read this:

It’s true that this is not the anti-Semitism of the 1930s, which came from the right and was rooted in longstanding Christian views that demonized the Jews. Traditionally, Islam did not treat Jews this way.

It’s about anti-semitism in Europe and most liberal’s dismissiveness of it.

The author actually blames Christians for Muslim anti-semitism.

Why does Lipstadt have to badmouth Christians and valorize Islam to make her point?

Jews are constantly worried and for good reason as Antisemitism is a unique hate pattern for all times and all places.

If the Jew is smart, he's a conniving clever ,tricky Jew.
If the Jew is dumb, he's a burden on society and a no good bum.

If the Jew is wealthy, he is a Rich Capitalist.
If the Jew is poor he is a Socialist rabble-rouser.

If he owns a business, he is an exploiter of others.
If he is a worker, expounding rights, he's a Socialist, trouble-maker.

If he supports the Left, he's a Commie.
If he supports the Right, he's a “Neo-Con”.

If he is weak, he's a leach to be beaten upon.
If he is tough, he's got chutzpah.

If he sits near power centers, he's part of a Jewish Conspiracy and Cabal.
If he is not involved, he doesn't care.

If he is killed and defenseless, he's a sheep to slaughter.
If he is a tough Israeli, he's a Hawk oppressor.

If he observes his rituals and laws, he's “clannish”.
If he tries to assimilate, he's “polluting” other races.

If he shows advancement in all fields he endeavors ,he's an elitist and a braggart.
If he lags behind advancement, he's a Shtetl primitive.

If he's supporting other people's causes, he's meddling in the affairs of others.
If he remains aloof to others suffering, he's cold hearted.

Only Antisemitism attacks Jews no matter where they are on the spectrum of life, rich, poor, Left, Right, bumbling, assertive in death and in life.

What other hate crime sees Jews attacked while alive and their graves desecrated long after they've died? People actually dig up Jewish graves and assault remains!

If he warns the world about Antisemitism, he's a Paranoid. If he sits back from the world stage, he's "tribal". You see, Antisemitism is the Jews’ fault after all. Jews are blamed for non-Jews hating them as well. Jews brought it upon themselves, right?

This is a very unique hatred. It is not a Jewish problem, it is a non-Jewish problem and always has been.

First They Came for the Jews

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

~Pastor Martin Niemöller

Community and individuality are not opposites. People cannot survive on their own. When the odds are stacked against you, you must rally with the oppressed and hated.

When a growing oppressive regime is taking hold, you must act, otherwise you will soon face your enemy alone and hopeless.

Strength of community is a strength as much as individualism, as long you are willing to face weaknesses in your own community. Ignoring slacking values will mean that you will be rallied against by those you oppress.

Niemöller affirms we must rally against unhealthy organized regimes. We must also stay vigilant with those that appear to be good natured, as all organisation attracts corruption. Niemöller also warns us that if it is you who are corrupt, then you will face a stronger combined force of foe!

When there is an outbreak of anti-Semitism today, officials condemn it.

And if the European economy falls apart they will exploit it.
