Hillary Clinton to attend Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin's annual steak fry, stirs up 2016 buzz

Hillary Clinton is going back to Iowa — her first visit to the crucial presidential battleground since her loss to Barack Obama there in 2008.

Clinton is scheduled to appear at Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin’s annual steak fry on Sept. 14, her office disclosed Monday — an announcement that intensified speculation she plans to run for President in 2016.

The 37th annual steak fry, a signature political event in Iowa, takes place 18 months before Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses — a critical moment in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Clinton will be accompanied to the steak fry — the last before Harkin retires — by former President Bill Clinton, who is scheduled to speak along with his wife, his spokesman, Matt McKenna, said.

The visit will be Clinton’s most high-profile political move since she stepped down as secretary of state last year.

But her advisers said the planned appearance was in line with the work she plans to do over the next month to help Democrats in the 2014 midterm elections.

“She’s looking forward to campaigning for her Democratic friends and colleagues and to helping the effort to move America forward, including a stop to see her old friend and colleague Senator Harkin to help raise money for important races in Iowa,” spokesman Nick Merrill said. Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to speak along with his wife at the steak fry.

Still, Ready for Hillary, a political action committee building a grassroots movement of support for a potential Clinton presidential bid, will also be on the ground in Iowa and playing a “major role” at the Harkin Steak Fry, a source said.

Over the next month, Clinton will also be fund-raising for the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Governors Association, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

The former First Lady and U.S. senator has been touring the country this summer promoting her latest memoir, “Hard Choices.”

While speculation about her presidential ambitions is unrelenting, Clinton has said only that she is “thinking about” running in 2016.

Her daughter Chelsea is expecting her first baby in the fall — an event that could upset the grandmother-to-be’s Iowa plans.

Didn’t someone almost choke to death at Harkin’s steak fry event a couple of years ago?

Buzz!?

Every Fox show talks about her everyday as if she’s the president - not even the candidate.

Stirs up 2016 buzz

LOL. Please. Stop. As much as she and the MSM try, Hillary! is stirring up absolutely zero "buzz." Her buzz was gone years ago. She could walk around in the middle of a busy street, stopping traffic and waiving a "Hillary! 2016" placard and it wouldn't generate any buzz.

Ya, I wondered how good liberals can go to a steak fry? Why aren’t they eating some version of tofu or soy products????

Anybody else notice how infrequently the two Clintons are together? Reports are they live separate lives. They want to show this image of being a married couple, but they are anything but a typical married couple. Only together to put on a public show at political events such as this, and let the media lap it up.

Oh BS. The old croak had her daughter conceive in order to time the delivery for the fall campaign.

Steak fry? Just proves that liberals can screw up anything. Why in the world would you want to ruin good beef by frying it?

It’s all for political show ..... Hill leaves Huma & Bill leaves the Energizer Bunny for photo-ops together. I thought it was a shabby re-do (without the ‘dancing’) when they showed up together on the beach recently. Hill, in that blue caftan/mumu/whatever-it-was reminded me of a beached blue whale (the biggest mammals on earth). She needs to have a word with her stylist .... then again, maybe she borrowed Moochelles (ugh). All I could think of with the blue whale in mind was videos of whale carcasses blowing up & spewing stink & rotten meat everywhere.

The steak fry is held at Harkin’s “pretend” farmstead in Warren County, south of Des Moines. He never actually lived there...
