I watched quite a bit of this.
IMHO, most of the press has been a sick...and I mean, sick...joke.
Half or more of them might as well join the ranks of the outsiders agitating for violence. Many of the rest are incompetent.
Johnson, IMHO is far too lenient and in sync with the thoughts of many of the protectors who are isolating police orders. Either give an order r on’t, but if you do, enforce it. Otherwise you embolden the crininal element. .But that is why he was brought in there in an attempt to placate them. To some extent it is working...but not with the hard core trouble makers who are either:
1) Pushing a violent agenda, wanting chaos to advance their political and ideological views, or
2) Criminls looking to be ble to loot and stel nd omit ahem under the cover of the violence.
The most hopeful thing I saw were the lines of peaceful, black protestors interposing themselves between law enforcement keeping the violent ones back...and then later working with law enforcement to point out the real troublemakers. Probably half of the arrests last night were a result of that.
God bless and keep those people...they were heroes and represent the bet in America. The did yoeman’s work lat night and had to really be a surprise and a huge hindersnce to those trying to use ll of this for political purposes.
As with Trayvon Martin,, again we have a false narrative of a peaceful, young black boy, brazenly gunned down by whites, in this case a white police officer.
The truth is not even remotely close to that.
What you had was a giant, strong armed robber/thug who refused a lawful police request to get out of the middles of the street. Then when the officer got the report of his robbery and went to question him, the 6’6”, 290 pound 18 year old, who was not overweight, but very fit...first argued with, then struggled with the police officer trying to keep him in his vehicle. When a shot rang out during that struggle, the criminal ran. When the police officer gave chase and ordered him to stop, the big man charged the officer and was fatally shot.
That’s what went on, and all of it needs to be investigated...but not abjectly lied about, which is what is going on, to push a political agenda in the ensuing chaos.
Interesting contrast between cnn and fox coverage this morning.
Fox shows the looting footage (focus on thugs) but also showing overall tear gassing etc.
CNN shows the police using tear gas (focus on police). Interesting how they can shape perceptions just by excluding video.
