The general rule of thumb is you fall in the direction you are moving. But, really, it depends on the round that hit you (caliber, weight of the bullet, FPS at impact, etc.).
I don’t think I ever heard what Brown was shot with. If a 9MM, he likely fell in the direction he was moving (i.e, forward).

True but its not dramatic like the movies. After all, recoil is the equal and opposite reaction with variables depending on the weight of the gun etc. The projectile is more or less the same force as what the shooter feels but its a much smaller point of contact than the grip or butt of a gun.
