If it was a .40, Wilson was probably using 180-grain rounds with an average muzzle energy of 400 foot pounds. A 9MM 147-grain round would come in a bit lower, at around 325 foot pounds. A bit of a difference, but nothing dramatic. Now, a .357 Mag would generate about 550 foot pounds of energy, and that is impressive; however, I don’t think any LE outfit uses that anymore: They all seem to have gone semi-auto.
