Six years into the worst administration for African Americans since Andrew Johnson sanctioned segregation in the South, its no surprise that riots have broken out in St. Louis.
The police shooting of an unarmed teenager in a St. Louis suburb over the weekend triggered angry demonstrations Sunday morning and vandalism and looting Sunday night, local media reported, says the LA Times.
The only question is: What took it so long?
With president Barack Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, race-baiters Al Sharpton, Sheila Jackson Lee, and an assortment of others constantly fanning the flames of hatred-- and thus keeping the black community in the big state straightjacket-- its not surprising that the disenfranchised have now turned to the remedies available to the disenfranchised for eons: chaos, rioting and looting.
Self immolation is the last resort of those who have no other voice.
Im going to be straight with you: If I were a black male in America Id be a radical, Id be angry, Id be striking back.
Just not over this shooting only-- and not in this way.
Can you imagine any other population-- say Italians-- being OK with the same type of tragedy in their own communities that is decimating the black males?
I can't.
While the details of the shooting arent clear, what is clear is that a black youth is dead, another casualty to Americas insistence by people of all colors to use, exploit, and otherwise misunderstand race relations in this country.
While not getting into the argument about why this is true, its a fact that by every appreciable measure this country has failed and continues to willfully fail black males. And in my long-standing refrain, as conservative, Im not OK with it.
And if youre conservative who is OK with it, I dont mind telling you that Im not OK with you. Were better than this, not just as conservatives, but as the People of Lincoln, as Americans.
In education, in life expectancy, in income, in employment, in health and in incarceration rates, the data tell a sad story of a whole segment of societythat is, the black malethat has been left behind.
And if you dont acknowledge the fact that behind all the reform minded talk about education, income, employment, health and crime in America lies the haunted and hunted figure of the black maleespecially the young black malethen youre either stupid, or worse yet, youre a progressive.
If you take the black male out of the statistics in healthcare, employment, income, education and incarceration rates, the picture of America doesnt look quite as bleak.
Take healthcare, for example. One of the principle arguments that Dems have made as to the necessity of healthcare reform has been that mortality rates in the United States are worse than in Europe, even though we spend more money on healthcare. Yet, when one looks at life expectancies in the US of populations besides the black males, life expectancy doesnt look that much different than in Europe.
The same thing apples in education. If we take the black male out of the stats, the story is much differentand thus more damning of our policiesthan if we include the black.
So what are we talking about here?
Were talking about how America has failed black males in this country.
And while Obama and Holder certainly share a lions share of blame for the plight of black males in 2014, I know that conservatives can do better.
That we dont do better as conservatives, Im not OK with that.
Were smarter and our ideas are better.
The fault then only lies within ourselves.
pRes_ _ent Obama-the-Undocumented
is the defender of Islam, only.
....And now with Ferguson, MO, help the US Senate go into GOP majority hands.
No, the fault lies within the black community!! They have taught their kids that being smart and successful and law-abiding is being “TOO WHITE”!!!!! They don’t use the common sense God gave them to see what the Democrats have done to them!!
Incredible bigotry.
They are men. They have responsibility for their lives.
This article continues the toxic left-wing treatment of blacks as untermenchen: a deme of society that cannot be expected to act responsibly. See also Arabs.
The Government hasn't 'failed' black men: it has willingly assisted in the inculturation of toxic memes in the AA community.
And - speaking generally - black men have cooperated with the entitled victim status that big Government has seen fit to grant them.
Conservatism is about self-reliance and small Government. We are against both the big Government that has abetted the toxicity of AA culture, and we stand for the freedom and self-reliance that is its only antidote.
Fatherless children DO NOT DO WELL.
That’s been an accepted FACT since forever.
Also, starting each day ALL DAY hating “whitey” might not be the best tactic.
Is it just a tiny bit possible that the black male is HIS OWN WORST ENEMY??
Bump
Democrats - the party that supported and still support slavery, that gave us the KKK, enacted Jim Crow laws, inflicts abortion on demand, promotes drug use. And blacks STILL vote overwhelmingly Democrat.
Am I missing something in this article or should we say why bother? Nothing Conservatives or GOP is going to change their habits.
At some point shouldn’t it be on blacks to make their lives better?
I believe so. Unfortunately many of them want to stay on the plantation
I have a Bic I’ll donate for the cause.
I agree that most of the problems with the black community lie within the black community, but even with all the troubles, it is a minority within the black minority that cause the problems. This may be somewhat different in the urban setting, but out here in the rest of the country most people, black, white and otherwise, get up, go to work to support their families, love their families, go to church on Sunday and, in short, live their lives like the rest of us do. We should not lose sight of that.
You may be right, however MOST decent blacks will still support criminal behavior from another black when a white person is involved.
I don’t know whether you are right about that or not. Most of the black people that I know (none are from urban areas, though) are embarrassed about black crime and the black “community’s” response to it. Same goes for attitudes toward education, lack of fathers’ responsibility, etc. As is the case most of the time, it is a vocal few who are highlighted, while the rest of us, black and white, go about our business.
And yet...they still vote for the Dems?
These thugs ain’t Kunta Kinte...
Listen and Laugh
I lived in the Jim Crow South - and all the racists were democrats... and stayed democrats. The only one that switched was Lestor Maddox.
***If I were a black male in America Id be a radical, Id be angry, Id be striking back.***
I knew a black man who chose NOT to go that route. To get away from his homies he joined the Navy, worked on Nuke subs, and upon discharge contracted out to a large power plant Engineering firm, traveled the world as a private contractor, and made three times what I made in a year!
He was an enjoyable person to work with.
But then, you can’t do that if you go to a desegregated school, put your head on the desk, and refuse to learn.
Why the gratuitous slam at conservatives? Who are no where to be seen in Ferguson or in the Black community or as a cause of the pathologies in the Black community. It's all liberals, moron.
When any white person in American, especially a conservative talks about the Black community, that person is and has been denounced as a racist for the past 50 years. This has trained most white people not to say a thing about "race" or the Black community.
That this implies acceptance of the conditions in Black communities is a foolish assumption, Mr. Ranson. Unless you are willing to be pilloried, you stay out of the way. And the vast majority of whites do exactly that. Thank you Democrat Party and affiliated Race Hustlers. The responsibility is yours.
