My reply to the meta question is that the police should not be militarized at all, and should be generally disarmed, with special squads allowed access to firearms in their official capacity.

You mean when I challenged you and other preppers on their prepper beliefs on a prepper thread?
To: JRandomFreeper
The cops are like every other aspect of government -— grown out of proportion to any functional service to citizens and communities.

(This is my tag line. There are many like it, but this one is mine.)

It takes citizens willing to deal with the politicians to keep that in check. You gotta go there into the council chambers and get comfortable there.
I'm all for hanging the bastards, but that gets such bad press these days.

Are you talking about police militarization on this thread?

I’m saying that a position on police militarization that is anchored in a worldview that sees the country as doomed should be taken with a grain of salt.
To: Yardstick
I don’t need to argue. JRandom p0wn3d you 15-20 posts ago.

That's your opinion of what you THINK I believe.
Anyone can read my history and see reality.
You are wrong.
Very wrong.
Wrong so strong it folds back on itself and creates a singularity.
And it doesn't matter what you think of me, or if you care about my view.... I'll be sitting in those budget conferences and hearings, and talking to politicians, and getting heard.

Non-sequiturs...now there’s an impressive word. Care to back it up with an argument?

You're trying hard to pull a thread about police militarization over into "prepping", and your opinion about "preppers" or "peppers" or whoever the heck tinkled in your Wheaties.
FAIL.

You are not discussing: you are campaigning.
And you’re doing it from a flawed premise at best, or outright attempt to slander at worst.
You accuse FReeper preppers of “wanting” a SHTF scenario the way a abortion advocate accuses pro-lifers of wanting to oppress women.
Anyone who has read FR prepper threads, that is anyone without an agenda, knows full well the closest any prepper “wants” a collapse is to have the current zeitgeist to fall of it’s own weigh so as to return to founding principles.
Frankly, your posture is as disingenuous and doctrinaire as (and strangely evocative of) anything coming out of the southern poverty law center.

I was thinking about Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini and him hanging from a lamp-post.
Sissy kind of name anyway, which is why I use it in full.

Im saying that a position on police militarization that is anchored in a worldview that sees the country as doomed should be taken with a grain of salt. Not at all self-evident.
Why don't you explain why a doomed country needs militarized police instead of greater military capabilities?
