In becoming an independent, I think I’m maintaining the independent (dare I say, libertarian?) mindedness and patriotism that my parents endowed me with. For the country’s sake and for their own, I hope the Democrats wake up.
I am also hopeful that we, the people, will wake up and strongly feel, with heart and soul, what my family always instilled in me and what is sadly absent in many of today’s political leaders: the love, the appreciation and an unapologetic pride of being an American.

Wow, Joe Piscopo from Saturday Night Live admits that he hopes Republicans win the mid-term elections this year. I wonder how many others there are out there?

He was on SNL. He joined the cast at the same time as Eddie Murphy, and left around the same time.

Democrats were just as wrong 50 years ago as they are today, with a difference: they loved their country.

Where was his good conscience thirty or fourty years ago?
(One wonders how many people he might have denigrated and insulted during his years as a “brilliant and intellectual” democrat.

A lot. They're called the Reagan Democrats. The working and middle class people of the Rust Belt.
Mitt Romney will not be their standard bearer.
Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz.
But not the effete snobs of what we used to call the Rockefeller Republicans.
The guy who played Kramer was on Fridays.

They were not just as wrong, they loved their country, that’s a really big difference. Even George McGovern, for all his faults, loved the United States and flew B-24s during the Second World War.
Scoop Jackson Democrats are ancient history and the party likes it that way. Heck I don’t even think you could find more than a handful of Dems who know who Zell Miller was.
McGovern was a decent guy with way out ideas. His followers were and remain lunatics. They are our rulers.
I think it’s a shame Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo didn’t do movies together. I thought they made a good comedy team on SNL.
