Good morning to everyone at the Canteen. We are in for another 100º or hotter day. I'm watering the grass, since it is "our" day.

ROCKUMENTARY: AUGUST 16, 1965Cue the Rockumentary theme!
San Remo Golden Strings: Festival Time
#5 Tom Jones: Whats New Pussycat?
The song is by Hal David and Burt Bacharach. But the script is by Woody Allen before he got the chance to direct and make his own movies. He was four years away from Take the Money and Run. The studio took a decent and somewhat farcical script by Allen and played it over-broadly, pretty much ruining the fun. The video is a bit naughty.

REGIONAL HIT The Showmen: In ParadiseGeneral Norman Johnson had recorded this tune in New Orleans in 1962, but in 1965 he went to Philadelphia to re-record it with the latest techniques under the tutelage of legendary producer Richie Barrett. Catch the drum riff at 2:15. This was a hit in much of the Northeastern US.
