Nearly a week after a police officer shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., police on Friday identified the officer as Darren Wilson.
Wilson is a six-year veteran of the Ferguson police with no disciplinary record, Ferguson police chief Thomas Jackson said at a news conference on Friday morning.
Jackson provided few other details about Wilson at the news conference and did not take any questions. He said that Wilson had been responding to a call shortly before noon on Saturday when there was a 911 call regarding a “strong-arm robbery” at a convenience store.
A description of a possible suspect was given over the radio, saying this person was walking toward the QuickTrip convenience store in Ferguson. An incident report handed out by police on Friday labeled Brown as a suspect in the convenience store robbery, which involved the theft of some Swisher Sweets cigars.
Wilson left the call he had been responding to and encountered Brown on Canfield Drive at 12:01 p.m., Jackson said.

The Ethics Committee says this is not the Darren Wilson involved in the shooting.
That’s not they guy. This guy has been a cop for fourteen years.
Can we please not make definitive statements without the most basic confirmation?

There is an oxymoron. And that is because we are all know cops cover for cops. That is what has blown this up. No sensible person trusts an honest investigation will happen.
Remember that ‘honest investigations’ cleard the Dorner cops and the cop who shot a kid holding a wii. Nor are those isolated.
I'd been with the same battalion in Germany for over 3 years when one of my NCOs invited me to his house for a July 4th party. At the time, I was the only white guy in the section, the other 5-6 were black.
His wife served up the most scrumptious soul food I ever had. She was mildly amused watching me eat a large portion of chitlins. She just had to ask how much I liked them...
I replied, "They're great, ma'am, but for some reason that I can't explain, I feel like dancing."
In retrospect, I shouldn't have said it, as I had not met her previously. OTOH, the men I worked with were howling.

I don’t know. Wouldn’t that be a blockbuster if it was. Michael Brown was wearing pants and shows when he was laying dead. The guy in the still is wearing shorts and slippers.
Someone mentioned on a thread yesterday that the QT was specifically targeted and burned. They also said the reason would be made public shortly.
I am guessing we now have the reason for the burning. I wonder if the images were on “the cloud” instead of the HD at the store......

Or if Michael and his friend have an alibi from the store they were coming from.
The people who are pro-Michael are saying this is a set up and he did not do the robbery.

I was wondering how they survived too. You may be right. Probably are.
I was thinking the cops may have gotten to the store first, in the course of their Investigstion of this incident, before the store was burned.
It’s a shame you know though? This guy was just running an honest business and gets his store burned because he dared tape the goings on in his own store. (Maybe, if indeed it was targeted)
That’s an odd blood trail if indeed he was running away when he was shot.

It can be uncomfortable. But it was interesting to have the shoe on the other foot. I was praying not to say anything stupid out of nervousness. It was so loud no one would have heard me. :)
I actually feel sorry for black who are harassed and abused because the thug life gets all the attention. They are not all thugs by any means. If I were black I would speak out I think. But that's hard as well. Blacks bully blacks who try to assimilate.
