why would you follow a car?
Not having a go , but I can’t imagine seeing a car and then finding the time to follow it for no reason.

I followed a St Louis police car with the plate “SWAT 2” last year.Could be that patrol officers are part of SWAT teams, called in off patrol when needed or carrying the required equipment onboard for fast response.
Don't want a non-SWAT patrolman grabbing the wrong vehicle...
