Monrovia- U.S. President Barack Obama may be having second thoughts about his assertions about experimental drugs being used in Africa.
A statement from the Executive Mansion Monday evening states that the White House and the United States Food and Drug Administration have approved the request for sample doses of experimental Serum to treat Liberian doctors who are currently infected with the deadly Ebola virus disease.
The names of the doctors have not been released but FrontPageAfrica reported Monday that two senior doctors at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center - Dr. Abraham Borbor, Deputy Chief Medical Officer at JFK, and Dr. Omega Singar have been infected with the virus. Dr. Phillip Ireland, who had earlier been diagnosed with Ebola is said to be recuperating and may soon be discharged, making it unlikely that he could be one of those to benefit from the experimental drug.
JFK recently lost Dr. Samuel Brisbane, its Chief Medical Doctor at the hospital and the Catholic Hospital shut down last week also suffered the massive loss of Sister Chantal Pascaline, a Congolese nun working in Liberia as part of a Catholic humanitarian group based in Spain. The San Juan de Dios hospital order announced that Pascaline died "from Ebola in the Hospital San Jose de Monrovia, despite the care she received from a volunteer nurse." Pascaline belonged to the same order as a Spanish missionary priest and nun evacuated to Madrid by jet this week. Both are in stable condition in a Madrid hospital, officials say. Laurene Togba, the head nurse at Catholic, also fell prey to Ebola last weekend, adding to the swelling total of health workers falling by the wayside to the deadly outbreak.

Obama OKs? Why do we have to get the OK from this loser?
All hail the glorious mercy from King Obama.
nice fella.
So let it be written. So let it be done.
What gives the pResident the authority to decide who gets what drugs or not?
Seriously. Is there some law? Tradition?
What gives him the power to determine how a patient will be treated? Does the FedGov own these drugs?

And in Africa, not even in the USA.
Who made him king?
Oh yeah. Millions of fools did.
Well said.
Um... how is it Obama’s place to okay the use of any drug by anyone? Isn’t that a medical matter?

Then again, there is a certain school of thought that would suggest he has a more legitimate claim to authority in Africa than he does here.
Oboma is a Doctor now? Indeed. Ridiculous.
He is more worried about whether the doctor is christian and likes gays than Ebola.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Ping...
Ultimately the decision of who gets experimental, untested drugs is up to the MANUFACTURER.
The government may have additional rules/regs it applies to the process, but it does NOT make the decision of who gets the drugs.
