His “humor” got blacker and blacker as the years went on. He was a hard-core liberal, and excelled at mocking what he didn’t like, and hanging around with people who had burnt crusts where their hearts used to be.

RIP Robin.

Do we really have to put all these sanctimonious posts about his drug use. ?
He was great to the troops and very funny, I still laugh at his movies. And the “good Morning Vietnam” was a clssic put down on beuarocracy and praise for the veterans.

I"m sorry, but I just have to ask. You said "However, its been said, those who commit suicide never find solace in the hereafter and their pain is eternal.

To which I say: How many people have come back from death with the Rules To Get Into Heaven in their hands? Who are these people and where is their copy?

It is not our call. I will miss him. Thank God he left such a large body of work!

He may still be alive but for his drug use.

“It’s a wonderful feeling when your father becomes not a god but a man to you- when he comes down from the mountain and you see he’s this man with weaknesses. And you love him as this whole being, not as a figurehead.”

Yes, he was a big Lib. Yes, he was vulgar. But much of his humor was sweet and endearing. We rented a video in the early 90’s of his stand-up routine and couldn’t watch it for all the vulgarities. But we really enjoyed Mrs Doubtfire, Awakenings and a few others. Saw him more than once at Comic Relief in LA. Lightning wit. RIP, Mr Williams. You were a monumental talent.

RIP Mr. Williams. Mrs. Doubtfire will always be one of my favorite films.

He wasn’t really an actor. He was a mimic.

Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor three times, Williams went on to receive the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Good Will Hunting (1997). He also received two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and five Grammy Awards.

Not bad for a mimic.

I wasn't happy with Garp, either and it is my favorite as well. To be fair, it wasn't William's fault, no one could do an adaptation of that book that would do it justice.

Its soooo easy to sum up a person ‘s failings as their whole being. And depression is an illness.

RIP. He was a liberal undoubtedly, but I enjoyed his acting. He led a very troubled life internally apparently. Suicide is terrible. God have mercy.

When you turn into a Cokehead, this is the result.
Poor people in the world who have to struggle for daily food seldom commit suicide. Life is really precious to them. But not to the obscenely rich people.

Very nice summary, Talisker. Not just for Williams but for liberals in general. Conservatives are unhappy at the loss of freedoms. Liberals get everything they desire and become more unhappy.
