I don't think it is health concerns, it is the cost of feeding a family. World wide discretionary income is falling.

Yes. The last couple of times we have gotten food from McDonald’s (very infrequent, but there is one very close to home), it was $15-16 for two people, basic food.

I don’t think Morgan Spurlock’s Super Size Me helped one bit though. It stopped me cold...: )

Not that I went very often anyway...

McDonald's July sales fell more than expected

That's all right. They can still serve it as long as they pick it up off of the floor within three seconds!

their product used to be the best, now it’s in the basement. dairy queen is much better. last time i went to macD’s the food just sucked, and i used to be a fan.

if they put out food that tastes good aat a reasonable price, people would eat there. now it’s all yuck

They bumped up their prices about 15-20% recently. Not as much elasticity as they hoped....

The McD’s in our area have been running a ‘promotion’ the last couple of months. If you do an online survey, you get a code to put on your cash register ticket for a ‘buy one, get one free’ on either an Egg McMuffin or Quarter Pounder with cheese. Since just a QP is over $4 ( as of July 1, we now also have a 5% local meals tax which runs up the price), I don’t even use the promos. For $4+, I can get a bigger bang for the buck at the grocery store. As an example, $4+ is half the cost of a bag of 12 frozen hamburgers or almost the cost of a pound of fresh hamburger. Sure, McD’s is fast food ‘convenience’, but the value for the money/convenience just isn’t there for me any more.

As for that local 5% that is now getting tacked to any ‘prepared’ meals (and a lot of other things it shouldn’t be added to since many cash registers can’t handle the complexity), as a matter of principle I avoid it if I can by slipping over the county line to do my shopping. If I were to eat at McD’s, there is a new one just across the county line as well. The neighboring counties are advertising “we don’t have a meals tax” which I just love seeing. The Rat B’s here said if they didn’t have the 5% meals tax, they’d have to up property taxes (rate) because they needed it for the “children” (schools - fancy ones at that). SO, the next property tax bill after the meals tax passed was TWICE the one before .... no, they didn’t raise rates, but they majorly jacked up the assessments.

They haven’t kept up with America’s improving pallet. There’s now multiple fastfood companies out there serving dramatically better food for similar prices that are booming. By remaining stagnant they allowed the market to move them from top tier in their class to bottom tier, life on the bottom tier is rough, especially when you’re not competing on price.

Lately I’ve been hitting the deli at my local grocery store for eating out. Deal is: big breakfast with meat and eggs for $2.59. Dinner with meat (usually chicken) and vegetables for $5—

Burger King and Jack in the box are a good 30-40% less than McDonalds and that’s without coupons which we regularly get in the paper.

Mc's is the go to place though....when we're traveling, its where we go because you know exactly what you'll get....

BK is getting better though....

For no reason in particular I have not been to McD’s in several months.

Starting to wonder if I, alone, am the entire profit base. lol

I better go get some fries so they don’t go bankrupt.

It’s not strange at all that McD’s profits fall in July. July is summertime, premium barbecue season. Who wants a dry, tasteless Big Mac when they can make juicy home-made hamburgers on their grill? Heck even frozen Bubba Burgers taste better than McD’s!

Looks like that “Mickey Dee’s” crap got them Blacks who don’t have the money to buy a burger. There are stories of Blacks actually chasing Whites out of McDonald’s restaurants saying “This is our restaurant!”

Next EBT cards will be good at “Mickey Dee’s Place.”

I think they need to run more t.v. commercials. I’ve only seen 6 McD’s commercials in the last hour.
