Bergdahl Details Disappearance to General Leading an Inquiry

During his first interview with the general leading an investigation into his capture by the Taliban, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl on Wednesday described details of his disappearance from his tiny combat outpost in eastern Afghanistan five years ago.

It was the first time Sergeant Bergdahl, of the Army, had formally described those events since he was released by the Taliban to Special Operations troops in May and flown to Texas after five years of captivity.

As soon as the session began, the investigating officer, Maj. Gen. Kenneth R. Dahl, warned Sergeant Bergdahl that he did not have to say anything that might incriminate himself. But the sergeant did not exercise his right to remain silent, one of his lawyers, Eugene R. Fidell, said in a brief telephone interview from Fort Sam Houston, Tex., where Sergeant Bergdahl is based. “He has responded to every question asked of him, and he has been afforded an opportunity to tell his story,” said Mr. Fidell, who attended the interview along with a military lawyer for the sergeant, Capt. Alfredo Foster. It was mostly “just letting the facts unfold in his own voice.”

“... and blamed the unit and chain of command for inadequately securing the area around the outpost,...”

Well... it certainly wasn’t ‘safe’ with HIM on duty.

Too much time has passed, yes, he has been coached. I’m certain, also.
The narrative that Bergdahl served with ‘honor and distinction’ (according to Obama hack, Susan Rice) must be preserved.

One wonders if there was any video made...during the “inspection” “hearing”...or whatever they are calling it.

The selection of a Major General to interrogate the rat is a tip-off that he'll get off...with maybe a slap on the wrist....maybe scot free.

A two-star as an interrogation flunky shows that Bergdahl is under the personal protection of Obama...and the General and everyone else knows it.

This is a farce of the first magnitude. Anyone else deserting like this would be charged and languishing in the brig instead of being back on active duty with a cushy desk job.

He’s had sufficient time to rehearse his lies.

Is the General really looking for the truth, or has he been given other orders?

The General doesn't need orders. He's not stupid. He knows what he has to do...it doesn't have to come down to him from on high.

He's lucky he's still around after Obama's purges of military brass these past several years.

Believe me, the General knows what side his stars are buttered on. This assigneent of his points out the reason for the purges in the first place.

Pray for or Military. After Obama’s purge of anyone who disagreed with him, our Military needs our prayers more than ever.

Bergdahl could tell “the General” that he left his post wearing a purple tutu, gone in search of the mahdi, with no intention of ever coming back, and the military will find a way to excuse him. To do otherwise would not reflect well on the little man with cheeks of tan who traded five truly bad guys for this jerk.

Obama has appointed a strong white male General as chief of staff of the US Army in Europe

I am so cynical of the Obungler administration, that until I see otherwise, I believe this General has his marching orders. Bergdahl will get off. Anything else would embarrass the regime, and the Obungler will not allow that to happen. The chump walks.

Exactly. This case reeks of UCI. The president has already signaled his wishes on this case. Seeing a 2-Star conducting an interview of a private is amazing....Unlawful Command Influence

Anybody from the old Haditha group remember a 2-Star being the "let's talk" buddy for any of those Marines, helping them to get the 'facts' out completely so 'justice' would be served?

Who wants to bet that there isn't a third star being dangled in front of him next to a pink slip? He's going to get one or the other depending on the results of his "investigation" and he knows it.

The corruption in this administration has reached well into the military and all aspects of our government. And as long as Obama's skin doesn't turn pale, it will continue to rot the very fabric of our nation.
