COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Public Health confirms a person is undergoing testing and has been quarantined for the deadly Ebola virus. A spokesperson says theyre working with the CDC to learn the preliminary results of those tests.
CPH says the person recently traveled to West Africa, where an outbreak has left nearly 900 people dead.
The virus can be transmitted through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals.
According to the CDC, symptoms include sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat. This is followed by vomiting, diarrhea, rash, impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding.
No licensed vaccine for Ebola is available. Several vaccines are being tested, but none are available for clinical use.

Ohio pings..!
Heavily trained Doctors in SPACE SUITS get it, but there us very little chance of it spreading in the USA, huh.....
Riiiiiight.
They are tested with taxpayer dollars. By what right are the results withheld. Serious question. Please answer.
So far, that has been the case. To the best of my knowledge, confirmed cases have so far been restricted to Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, and Nigeria.
Suspected, but unconfirmed cases have appeared in the US, UK, Morocco, the Philippines, and possibly Hong Kong.
Fecal matter is going to hit the rotary blades when we get the first non-African confirmation. And the “authorities” know that. That's why they will attempt to obfuscate for as long as possible - even if that means that it will give the disease a greater opportunity to spread.
No one will want to be the first. We'll see how long they can hold out.
The next two weeks will be interesting.
Add Saudi Arabia to the list of possibles.
You are right, and this is entirely political for two reasons. First, it will show the utter foolishness of even “liberal-door” (let alone “open door”) immigration/Amnesty. Second, it will reinforce the notion of nationhood and that NATIONS, not little feel good groups and hashtags, must deal with these things.
The Last Ship
Yes, you're right. I did see the possible Saudi case but forgot to add it. Also, the Saudis announced that they will not be issuing Haj visas to Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. Emirates announced it was suspending flights to those countries, while Air France, British Airways and Lufthansa said they were merely "screening" passengers.
British Airways suspended all flights to and from Liberia and Sierra Leone today.

At least there’s a minimal degree of control over people who arrive legally, since they mostly have passports with visa stamps that show where they come from and where they have been. OTOH illegals swarming in across the southern border don’t even have ghat minimal documentation. An Ebola carrier coming in there will spread it far and wide before he is caught.
Thanks for the update.
Thank God. I’m traveling BA in September for a two week trip to Germany.
Ping to null and void and kartographer. Columbus OH (Home of Ohio State Univ).
Yet another possible arrival on our soil.
What this means, of course, is that there will soon be a scramble to get out by any means possible.
Excellent question and one that needs to be asked more often, and with respect to many other instances of government secrecy.
IMO the government does not want to release any information that might lead thinking people to question policies or demand accountability. The jobs of bureaucrats and politicians are thretened by such inquiries. Secrecy is a veil that protects them.
Power corrupts.
How many people will one infectious person in the jungles of Africa actually come in contact with? Compare that with the number of people an infectious person would come in contact with in a crowded apartment building in the Bronx.
I remember somewhere reading that firemen have to learn to "think like the fire". Well, I think we have to start thinking like a virus.
Those who think it won't spread in America because of our superior health care system aren't "thinking like a virus." The Ebola virus, specifically.
