Donald Trump expressed panic over news that an Ebola patient will be flown to a specialized isolation unit at an Atlanta hospital. The billionaire took to Twitter on Wednesday to suggest that American borders should be closed to anyone with the virus that has killed 729 people in West Africa. That would apparently include two U.S. citizens — a doctor and a missionary — who are fighting for their lives in Liberia.
"Stop the EBOLA patients from entering the U.S. Treat them, at the highest level, over there. THE UNITED STATES HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS!" Trump tweeted. Some of the replies pointed out that health officials say the unit at Emory University Hospital was built specifically to contain a disease like Ebola, and that the virus is not as easily transmitted as the flu. CDC Director Thomas Frieden says that even if Ebola were to arrive in the U.S., it could be stamped out and poses little risk...

In the Liberals world, America deserves the exposure to Ebola too, why should we be immune, afterall, we are ALL African- Americans.
Did anyone here read “The Hot Zone”?
I tried to read it, based on a blurb from Stephen King that it was horrifying and “it just kept getting WORSE”
But after Chapter 1 (which really was pretty horrifying) the book sucked so bad I could not believe it- (I think Stephen king meant the quality of the writing- not the story)
It was the only book I ever returned to the bookstore to get my money back.
Should I have kept on past chapter 4?

Maybe the patients can visit the NBC news room.
It could not be “stamped out” unless there were massive quarantines—an entire city, for example.
We should shut the borders to anyone coming from West Africa, until they have been held in isolation for three weeks (the incubation period).
Plagues have to be treated with ruthless efficiency—once they escape, it’s too late.
(Recall the flu plague of the 1920s—millions died. Think it can’t happen again?)

I agree. However, this is another crisis to keep the news media off Obama scandals.
They have in the past held quarantines of villages at 42 days from the last patient.
So that gives you a best guess for the amount of preppers stuff one should have on hand...

If I may add, mass quarantine would likely involve martial law & travel restrictions, wiping out any notions of grouping with like-minded preppers/tribe or bugging out.

You trust the CDC and the government much more than I do. The CDC has had a rather horrible record of keeping track of samples recently, and we are sending one of the most dangerous viruses into downtown Atlanta?
Remember who we have in charge. Remember what the IRS gal called us, and remember how Georgia went last election.
We are not dealing with a flu bug, or with rational government actors.

Well, it does appear that they are taking every precaution, although anything now that Obama is president and has destroyed the missions of most of our better, formerly non-political agencies is suspect.
That said, I’m sure there are still good personnel at the CDC, and if they can identify something that at least mitigates Ebola, this will be a step in the right direction. It’s sure not going to happen in Africa.

Unfortunately, I know to many in academic circles who desperately want an outbreak to “Reduce our footprint”. Many of them are now in the Obama administration.
It doesn’t have to be the doctors either.
The first precaution in plague us quarantine.
