This is a woman so caught up in delusion that for her reality has ceased to exist.
An analogy is a person who is introduced to someone who is profoundly mentally ill, and they take it upon themselves to “talk some sense into them.”
They beg and plead with them to *understand* that being sane is better than being insane. They desperately try to *connect* with them, to establish some “mutual ground” that they have in common as a starting point for change.
But while “the lights are on, there is nobody home.” There is no communication there at all. Even if some words penetrate the haze of madness, they do not register or make sense. They are random noises.
And it is all because she does not see the reality, but what she wants reality to be.
