For weeks, residents of the three villages where the debris from Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 landed have heard the fighting around them, and hoped the violence would pass them by. But on Monday, the crash site turned into the newest front in the war.
Natalya Voloshina, mayor of Petropavlivka, one of those villages, said a Ukrainian armored column traveled through the tiny settlement Monday morning, followed by a rebel regiment. As night fell, she said, the sound of gunfire began echoing off the walls of the small houses in her village and neighboring ones.
After the horror of luggage, plane parts and hundreds of bodies raining down on them, many villagers had hoped the catastrophe would force a move toward peace. "It's the opposite way around," Ms. Voloshina said in a telephone interview. "It's getting even worse."

Kiev didn’t honor its own cease-fire. Again...
You will recall that on the ceasefire thread, I did ask if they would, and got called all kinds of names by the usual suspects for daring to do so.
Kiev declares a cease-fire within 40K of the crash site, and the rebels do as well.
As soon as it was reported that many of the large numbers of rebels securing the crash site had left to go to the fighting in Donetsk, Kiev launches a huge offensive right through the crash area.
Now it appears those UK elements are surrounded, and under heavy fire.
I did ask how much control does Poro actually have over his forces in the field. Either he lied again, or he doesn’t have any control.
The rebels are clearly aggressive provocateurs and covetous of Ukrainian territory. Just as in Crimea they came from Russia to seize territory. Why would they agree to a cease fire? Would they be honorable in support of a dishonorable goal?

Is this what your Russian thugs are all about, tcrlaf:
MIA reports on exhumation of mass grave in Sloviansk
The exhumation of bodies found in a mass grave in Sloviansk has begun, said Ministry of Internal Affairs advisor Anton Herashchenko, as reported by the Ministry press service, July 28.
According to Herashchenko, on July 24, the first mass grave in Sloviansk was exhumed, which the terrorists deliberately located in the center of the city, in a park near the monument to the heroes of the 1917-1920 civil war.
A total of 14 bodies were removed, which had been buried in the middle of June. Three bodies of tortured victims were recognized during the exhumation,. They turned out to be parishioners of the Protestant Church of the Transfiguration

He looks like a spy — a Russian regular wearing civilian clothes behind Ukrainian army lines.
During time of war those get treated to battlefield justice.
The Russian terrorists on the other hand are killing civilians wearing their own clothes in the towns that they capture — those are war crimes.
Sure he is... This was taken somewhere east of Mariupol, and is supposedly Kolomoisky’s Right-Sector acting as Einsatzgruppen.
PS— So, by this statement, you are ADMITTING that you are a hypocrite. Thanks for that.
Came for the Russian hand-wringing about a ceasefire. Left satisfied.

Your comparison is irrational.
A 24 or 48 hr "truce" is totally inadequate to carry on a real investigation of an airline accident covering a few thousand square miles. Not in an area of an asymmetric "civil war" where each field "commander" is his own final authority.
In Gaza, at least in theory, the party responsible for maintaining a cease fire is identifiable, and able, in theory, to control the operators of offensive weapons.
