Daily Beast Attempts to Paint Iowa Republican Joni Ernst as Nullification Nelly

Recent polls show a tight contest in the Iowa Senate race to replace retiring liberal Democrat Tom Harkin (D), so leave it to the Daily Beast to hype a video clip it recently unearthed to insist that it is evidence that Republican nominee Joni Ernst as a nut who betrays a "shocking ignorance" [see image below page break] about constitutional law regarding the Tenth Amendment and state nullification of federal law.

That's how Ben Jacobs painted the military veteran and Republican state senator, suggesting her answer to a question posed to her at a September 13, 2013 event was an endorsement of state legislatures issuing nullification proclamations against federal laws:

Desperation. They realize that they have a bad candidate in Braley.

Re: “They [the Democrats] realize that they have a bad candidate in Braley.”

Well, not that bad.

Last two polls:

13 July - Braley/Ernst tied

16 June - Braley +4

Republican Governor Terry Branstad is +15 in the same July poll.

My first question:

After months of bad political news for Democrats, why is the GOP candidate Ernst just tied?

The gayly beast and the huffington compost hate Joni Ernst. That’s a solid endorsement of her character in my view .

We cannot compare Joni Ernst to Governor Branstad. He is running for his sixth (1982-1998, 2010-?) term, is very popular, rescued state government from a terrible Dem governor in 2010. Ernst is not well known outside her state senate district.

(from the article):".. the Daily Beast to hype a video clip it recently unearthed to insist that it is evidence
that Republican nominee Joni Ernst as a nut who betrays a "shocking ignorance.."

Well , it worked for them with Palin , so why not try it again for the thirty second newsbite bimbos from MSM .
Nobody remembers that it was a comedien who only pretended to be Palin ,.. the facts don't matter !
The tactics remain the same , but the names change
and the thirty second bimbos don't know that they got hornswagled again !!

It wasn’t until 2014 that it was revealed BJ Clinton had 1032 SATs, 200 less than GW Bush.

Braley has been elected to four terms from an eastern Iowa CD that includes Iowa’s second largest city and two of the state’s three universities. Eastern Iowa is dependably Democrat. He is actually an Iowan and actually does live there.

Ernst is a State Senator from the sparsely populated southwest part of the state, although she does have the backing of the GOP establishment and Sarah Palin.

Ernst is being tarred as a tool of the Koch brothers and Big Oil.

It was always going to be an uphill battle.

The only data more secret than Baraq’s SATs and LSATs are his golf scores!

Re: “Clinton had 1032 SATs”

I think you mean Kerry.

Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar and a graduate of Yale Law School, one of the top two law schools in the USA.

New poll came out today on Ernst/Braley.

Ernst is +1.

Looks like CBS News/NYTimes polled all the close Senate races.

Having watched folks on the other side try to figure out how to do an end run around the Hobby Lobby decision, and the abortion-clinic-buffer-zone decision, and the DC and Chicago gun cases...that’s pure comedy.

Since the Governor is so popular, would it help if he campaigned with and/or did an ad for Joni? Maybe he already is - just watching from afar. Fingers crossed for Joni.

Clinton got the Rhodes deal because he was an intern to Democrat Arkansas Senator Fulbright.

Exactly.

It's a well-known fact that ALL the smart women (and every other group oppressed by white males) are Democrats.
